Dr. Kathleen L. Nelson is deeply committed to the work that she does, and she sincerely enjoys being a psychiatrist. She is a member of the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society, the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, and has been a part of the faculty at four universities including Boston University and her alma mater, USC. Dr. Nelson has extensive experience both as a practicing psychiatrist, and in academic settings teaching medical students, psychiatry residents, and forensic psychiatry fellows preparing for board certification in forensic psychiatry. She offers psychotherapy and has additional expertise in Suboxone and forensic issues, and extensive experience treating adult offenders and adults suffering from mood disorders, grief and a past history of trauma. Some of her areas of expertise include medication-management, interpersonal psychotherapy, forensic issues/consultation, pet loss counseling, spiritual counseling, and grief counseling.
