The IRS announced 2/22/21 that it is extending the tax-filing deadline to June 15 for victims of the winter storms in Texas.
The extension applies to individuals and businesses in the entire state of Texas. Taxpayers in other areas impacted by the storms that received disaster declarations from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will also be eligible, as well.

Breaking Tax Update: The IRS has extended the tax filing deadline to May 17, 2021. Texas residence are still under the June 15, 2021 deadline.

Economic Impact Payments is calculated on a taxpayer’s latest processed tax return from either 2019 or 2020. This includes anyone who used the IRS non-filers tool last year, or submitted a special simplified tax return. Expect direct deposit of the stimulus payment as soon as March 17, 2021. Some recipients started getting them as early as the weekend of March 13-14, while others will receive them in additional waves the following weeks.
Stimulus payments are made first via direct deposit, then by paper check and prepaid debit cards.
Taxpayers can begin tracking the status of their payments on the IRS’s “Get My Payment” portal on March 15, 2021
