Dr. Kenneth Podell is the John M. O™Quinn Centennial Clinical Academic Scholar in Concussion Research and Care for Houston Methodist Concussion Center. He is a board-certified neuropsychologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of individuals who have sustained any type of brain injury or disease. He has particular expertise with sports-concussion, traumatic brain injury and dementia and serves as the director of the Houston Methodist Concussion Center while overseeing concussion care throughout Houston Methodist. Dr. Podell works extensively with professional, collegiate and high school athletes and serves as a concussion consultant for the Houston Texans, Houston Astros, Houston Rodeo and Rice University. He also consults for more than 20 area high schools and middle schools and is a member of various national and collegiate concussion task forces and committees.Dr. Podell is the director of Neuropsychology in the Department of Neurology where he performs general neuropsychological services and works extensively with dementia, psychiatric disorders, stroke, movement disorders and forensics.Dr. Podell helps his patients maximize health and well-being by giving them the attention and individualized care they need to address their health concerns. He provides comprehensive evaluations addressing all aspects of his patients' medical, psychological and lifestyle needs. His patients are empowered to better health using a strong psychoeducational approach.Dr. Podell is currently an associate professor at Weill Cornell Medical College and the Houston Methodist Academic Institute as well as adjunct associate professor at the University of Houston's Department of Psychology and Texas A&M School of Medicine. He maintains an active research laboratory and enjoys teaching.
