We all know the important role that teachers play in a child’s life. This was even more evident to Cary when she had her conversation with her son about voting.

Dedicate 15 minutes of today’s playtime to practice sentences with your 5-year-old. Write a simple question at the top of a piece of paper. At the bottom of the paper write the answer in a sentence starter form but with the sight words missing. For example, at the top, write “What is your favorite color?” At the bottom, write, “___ favorite color ___ blue.” The blank spaces are for your child to write the sight words “my” and “is” Write the sight words on a separate piece of paper for your child to reference. #learnon Click here for more ideas for turning playtime into a learning opportunity for your 5-year-old: https://kiddieacademy.com/playtime-activities-for-five-year-olds/.
Use quiet time to teach your 4-year-old about healthy eating. Ask your child to think about which foods would be included on a healthy plate. Talk about how those foods make us feel. Talk about the foods that don’t provide a lot of nutrition and how those foods might make one feel tired and less energetic. Invite your child to look through each of the grocery store circulars (or printed pictures from the Internet). Encourage him or her to cut out pictures of the healthy foods and paste them on to the paper plate or construction paper. Discuss the pictures that your child has chosen for his or her collage. #learnon Click the link for more quiet time activities for your 4-year-old: https://kiddieacademy.com/quiet-time-activities-for-four-year-olds/.
This 5-minute activity will start your three-year-olds day with an opportunity for learning. Read a book about birds to your child. Lead a discussion about birds. Teach your child the rhyme on our website. Say it a few times alone and then invite your child to say it with you. Show him or her the movements that go with the rhyme. #learnon Follow the link for more ways to turn your three-year-olds’s morning routine into a learning opportunity: https://kiddieacademy.com/morning-activities-for-your-three-year-old/.

Looking for a fun playtime activity for your toddler? All you need is 30 minutes, some spaghetti, and other supplies you have at home. Cook the spaghetti and then place the cooled cooked spaghetti into a large sandwich bag. Invite your child to add a few drops of food coloring and shake the bag until the spaghetti is coated with color. Place the colored spaghetti in a plastic bin and invite your child to explore. #learnon Click here for more ideas for turning playtime into a learning opportunity for your toddler: https://kiddieacademy.com/toddler-playtime/.
