It is likely that kids encounter many veterans on a regular basis without realizing it. Inspire your children with what it means to be a veteran, and the symbols, songs and pledges that define American patriotism. Veterans are people who served in the military valiantly, and in a very big way. They fight to protect you and me, to keep our nation safe, and to preserve our way of life. Leave a thank you message in the comments below for all the veterans that have served our country! #VeteransDay
This month in Character Essentials, we’re showing appreciation for the gifts we have in our lives.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.”—. Dr. Seuss, “I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!”.
Math is all around us, and it’s more than just learning numbers. When children sort crayons by color, put puzzles together, build with blocks, count their raisins during snack, and sing “Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed,” they are learning about math. These kinds of hands-on learning activities create a solid foundation for children to understand shapes, sizes, length, addition, and subtraction. Children who have the opportunity to learn math-related concepts in early childhood often do better in school and are more skilled at using math as an adult.
This month in Character Essentials, we’re learning to appreciate that we’re all different individuals, and that’s okay.
