Register online, double check your voter registration status, or get your vote-by-mail or absentee ballot request postmarked and mailed in time. If you've done all that, we thank & applaud you! Next level is blocking off time on your work calendar (if you're voting in person) and texting older relatives, adult children, friends and neighbors to make sure they're all set with registering or voting in person. Let's all help each other out so that—no matter how we're going about it—we're all exercising our right.
Today’s an important day. Tens of thousands are joining the March on Washington, both virtually and in person. The March is a reminder that real change comes from everyday citizens, and we’re thrilled to be in the center of it all. Even though our hotel doors remain closed, our hearts are open and we’re proud to support #blacklivesmatter . Know that we’re all in this together, and we all believe in a better tomorrow.
As we reminiscence on #weddingwednesday and all the beautifully captured moments, we can’t help but miss our neighbors, especially the National Portrait Gallery. Located directly across the street from us, the National Portrait Gallery houses portraits of men and women who have made significant contributions to the history, development, and culture of the people of our nation, including the nation’s only complete collection of presidential portraits. While its doors are not open yet, the National Portrait Gallery is offering “Visit at Home” options that include online & virtual programs.
Is it just us or has July flown by? We blinked and just like that we are halfway through summer. This is our official reminder to embrace those summer vibes. Whether you’re indulging in a fruity cocktail by the pool, reading a fun book at the lake or enjoying BBQ and a beer in your backyard, we hope you have your summer playlist on and are ready to soak up some sunshine. Pride had to be different this year – in MLK’s famous words, “no one is free until we are all free.” But what hasn’t changed is our long-standing support of the LGBTQ+ community and our ongoing partnership with @trevorproject .
