When San Francisco businesses closed in March, storefronts boarded up their windows and a project called Paint the Void was born. Artists are bringing light back to the city, including the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. Art for Civil Discourse launched a corresponding fundraising campaign for small businesses that has raised over $40,000.

For us, International Women's Day is a celebration of the women who make Kimpton Sir Francis Drake so very special. And what name springs to mind? Irene Rodriguez, a 30+ year veteran and perennial employee of the month. Irene's worked as a room attendant, at the Starlight, and now a supervisor and coordinator in the hotel. When asked what she's been most proud of over the years, Irene replied, "Every manager that has ever come through this department, I still consider my friend."
