Help Your Pet Beat the Heat 🐶☀ Warm temperatures can be hard on our four-legged family members due to the risk of heat-related illness, such as heat stroke. Here are some tips for keeping your pet cool: - Take walks early in the morning or at night when it is cooler. - Provide plenty of fresh, cool water. - Consider boarding your pet if you can’t provide a cool, safe spot when it is especially hot. - NEVER leave your pet in a parked car. If you think your dog is experiencing a heat-related illness call your local emergency veterinarian immediately for guidance. Heatstroke is an emergency! Call Kingsland Blvd Animal Clinic at 281-578-1506 today for further questions regarding heatstroke prevention or to request a boarding appointment with us! Veterans Day is a good time to remember that our freedom isn’t guaranteed. It’s protected by the men and women in our Armed Services. To those who secure our way of life… thank you! We are a proud veterinary partner of Pets for Patriots, an organization which helps United States military veterans adopt a new pet friend while giving the most overlooked shelter dogs and cats loving homes. Every day 20 veterans take their own lives. Every eight seconds a dog or cat is put to death for lack of anyone to adopt them. Companion pet adoption saves two lives. Not only do we thank the military this Veterans Day, but we resolve to thank them throughout the year for the vital service they perform for our country.

This alien-looking creature is a flea larva, viewed under a microscope. Did you know, for every five adult fleas you find on your pet, there can be up to 95 fleas in various immature stages in the environment: your pet's bed, the carpet/floor, the couch, your bed - wherever your pet goes - leaving flea eggs in his wake? Fleas are not only an itchy nuisance, they can cause flea allergy dermatitis, anemia, and tapeworms. This is why consistent and effective flea control is important, especially in a climate as mild as we have in Houston. Finding fleas? Ask us how to end the itch!

"Learn. Do. Teach." As a deep-rooted member of the Katy community, we are committed to participating in its efforts to educate the next generation. As part of that responsibility, we are happy to provide meaningful internships to students at the Miller Career and Technology Center in its Veterinary Assisting program. These students take specialized career and technology programs as well as core classes for half a day at the center while continuing to attend their home high school campus. The student interns at KBAC shadow our staff as the doctors and technicians conduct exams, administer vaccinations, take vitals and draw blood and perform diagnostic tests. Today, they had a special opportunity to learn what goes into a dental cleaning under Kayla and Dr. Free's watchful eyes, and even got to clean a tooth! We are proud of these students and their dedication to preparing for career success. #katyvet #teachinghospital #futurevet

Preventative wellness care is extremely important for all pets, but particularly so with rescue pets. We don't typically treat hooved animals, but when the pet in question is 4 weeks old, adorable and belongs to one of your staff, you make exceptions. Meet Sage!

A masked holiday gathering, with Chuys for lunch and Dr Croft calling bingo! Michelle won the first round! We're looking forward to being able to be with friends again without all the protective measures, but until then, we are grateful for the laughter we share.
Dogs have sensitive ears, and the noise and vibrations of New Year's fireworks can be frightening for them. Know the signs of your dog's stress and keep them safe. When possible, stay with them and distract them with toys and treats. Use music or the television to mask the noise. Consider a Thundershirt (or even a t-shirt tied snugly around the torso) for an added feeling of security for your pet. For extreme stress, call us - we have products that can help reduce anxiety in your pet and allow him to welcome in the New Year in peace.
Welcome to Dr. Knight, Dr. Taylor, and all of the staff from St. Francis Animal Hospital! Growing to serve you better! We're thrilled to have the doctors of St. Francis join us at Kingsland Blvd. Animal Clinic. Dr. Taylor is hitting the ground running; even as she learns a new setting, different ways of doing things and has new personnel to assist her, she is examining, diagnosing, performing surgeries and charting without missing a beat! She's excited about the opportunities to work with exotics and learn orthopedic surgery that joining Kingsland provides. Welcome, Dr. Taylor!
Kingsland Blvd. Animal Clinic updated their info in the about section.
We're delighted that Dr. Rachel Knight has also joined us from St. Francis! One of Dr. Knight's favorite aspects of veterinary medicine is the lifelong bond she forms with clients, from teaching clients about puppy care - feeding, training and keeping them healthy - all the way to the senior years, helping our older companions to be active and vigorous even into their teens. She appreciates the privilege of sharing this precious journey with her clients. Dr. Knight is looking forward to collaborating with her colleagues at Kingsland on new and complex medical cases, as well as the opportunity to expand and hone her surgery skills! Welcome, Dr. Knight!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! We know this past week has been hard on everyone. We want to give a shout-out first to our staff who have been coming in to make sure your pets were taken care of. To those close enough to come in Monday/Tuesday, who WALKED to work due to treacherous road conditions, you are rock stars. Then, the rest of the week, as many as could do so left their homes, many without power or water, to come in to provide care for your pets as conditions allowed. We appreciate our clients' patience and support during this time. Almost without exception, you have shared, commiserated, and understood the constraints under which we've been operating. We care about you. We care about your pets. By tomorrow, we should be able to return to our normal schedule. We are glad to be able to be there for you. May the next days see a return to normalcy for all of us.

At this time, we plan to reopen on Friday and will keep in touch if anything changes.
WE WILL BE CLOSED TOMORROW, FEBRUARY 17 We were able to open on a limited basis today, and were glad to see the patients that needed us. With more freezing rain and below-freezing temperatures predicted overnight and into tomorrow, we have made the decision to close again for Wednesday, February 17. It is simply not safe for our staff to try and come into the clinic, nor for you to bring your pets, either. We regret the inconvenience. Please know that staff who live close to the clinic have been making their way there to care for the boarders, and as of this time, we continue to enjoy power in the kennels for their comfort. At this time, we plan to be open Thursday, and will continue to stay in touch as things develop.
Icy road conditions will prevent many of our staff from safely making their way to the clinic today. We WILL BE OPEN from 11-5, with limited staff. Please call us at 281-578-1506, and we will try to accommodate your pet's needs to the best of our ability. Please stay safe.
We want to make it possible for you and your pets to receive the care you know and trust. We plan to open the clinic at 11:00 AM tomorrow, and remain open until 5:00 PM. Clients who had earlier appointments are being contacted individually to move those appointments. Please call the clinic to schedule any additional appointments. Please understand, the safety of our staff and you, our clients, remains of greatest importance. If conditions tomorrow require a change to these plans, we will update you via Demandforce and social media as soon as that decision is made. The clinic has power, and the heaters are functioning. Please know our boarders are all safe and warm, and we hope you are too!
When you want to make absolutely sure you don't forget to tell the vet all of your concerns, send a note! Ouiser was here for a visit, and her mom tucked a note in her collar to make sure we had all the information we needed to address her needs. She presented it so adorably with her little raised paw - it absolutely made our morning! Thanks for the day-brightener! #katypets #katyvet #welshterrier #vetcare #vetpatientlove #lovemydog #lovemyjob
We are excited to be able to open for limited services today! The clinic's doors will be open from 11 am to 4 pm. Please call us at 281-578-1506 before coming in and we'll do our best to meet you and your pets' needs!
