"Digital signage turns the surfaces of your city and your office into stages. And the content that these signs show isn’t just a generic Shakespearean adaptation; it’s a personalized story that involves every individual who encounters it." https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbescommunicationscouncil/2018/09/05/how-to-tell-an-effective-story-with-digital-signage/#15530f5f523e

New Year, New Biz
Happy New Year! What are your promises to yourself for 2021?
We may be a little biased, but we think the project turned out beautifully, and the client agreed!
Fun fact: This project was completed 100% in-house, which provided a host of benefits for the client. By running the Roots Display in-house from start to finish, our team was able to answer client questions along the way without delay and too much back-and-forth.
We are always here to help the client in any way possible and we want to create exactly what the client needs and help represent their business in the best ways possible. The end result: A successfully completed project, better communication, better relationships and better business for both parties.
With the concept of the Roots Display project solidified, our team went to work on construction.
This involved transferring their ideas to actual material which, in this case, was aluminum rather than wood like the original. KORT experts put the old graphic into Illustrator and created an improved, sharper illustration of what the client was looking to represent on their new sign. They then welded the aluminum frames, painted them black, added the graphic, added the pull cords, added handles to the cords, and finally the locks and handle to carry the sign when folded up.
Stay tuned for the finished product!
How do our signage experts start any big project? At the drawing board!
The scope of the project was to produce a custom table-top display that represented Midwest plants and roots sizes that kids could play with and learn from. The display would represent these different plants with a colorful graphic and kids could pull a cord to see how long the roots of specific plants are. This meant that the display had to be durable, yet functional. The client's previous display was made out of wood, so they wanted one that would be lighter and be able to fold up and transport. It was also going to be mass produced for five companies.
Here's what happens behind the scenes: KORT artists created sketches, took measurements, and took photos of the old display that would be replaced with a new, interactive, modern one.
A lot of sticky notes, graph paper and ideas later, the team had a concept to present.

In honor of Black History Month, we are highlighting some of history’s most influential Black artists and brand experts.
First up: Charles Dawson. Dawson was well-known in the 1920s and 30s for his illustrated advertisements for beauty products and Black artists. In 1907, Dawson was the first Black student admitted to the Art Students League in New York. He was also a founding member of the Arts and Letters Society, the first Black artist collective in Chicago. Dawson was groundbreaking in the art world of that era. His Negro in Art Week exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago was the first show of African-American art at a major American museum, which debuted in 1927. In 1934, he was the only Black artist with a prominent role in the Century of Progress Fair, where his illustrated mural of the Great Migration was displayed by the National Urban League in the Hall of Social Science.
On this #ThrowbackThursday, we're throwing it back to one of our favorite projects: Coalition.
This project involved hand-painting the signage, and we think they turned out eye-catching and fitting for the delicious food and beautiful atmosphere that Coalition has cooked up!
