Happy Friday and Happy New Year, everyone! We are back with our first employee spotlight of the year but, our last from the staff! Since the start of Kramer’s Sew & Vac, we have stuck to the same idealism that our customers are the heart of our business! Because we pride ourselves on customer service, it is important to have a team that aligns with our idealisms, is knowledgeable, and passionate about the same projects and crafts that you are, too! This week we will be highlighting our wonderful owners, Patrick and Anitra!
Patrick started school at the University of Cincinnati where one of his friends mentioned his father (the current owner) was looking for employees. Patrick started working at Kramer’s over 25 years ago and has never looked back. After being with the company for a while, he set his sights towards one day owning the store on day. He worked until he achieved it almost 7 years ago!
Anitra says she, “attended Wright State for 2 years going into Nursing and ultimately wanted to become a Flight Attendant. I grew up in Fire Houses and around Medics and Firemen my whole life. I had never really sewn and after high school I was introduced to it, and have since never looked back!” She continues that she, “switched my gears, moved to Cincinnati and started sewing clothes (self taught) and selling them at different venues and a small shop I found in Clifton. This led me to find Kramer’s as I was always breaking my machine. I met Sydney, Carol, Susan and the whole gang! I loved it there and Sydney was always finding me good, older machines and when I would break that one, I would go buy another one!”
“In the interim, I had met Patrick through some friends outside of Kramer’s. Long story short, I was serving on a Saturday night and had the current owner of Kramer’s, at the time, sitting at my table. I joked and asked if there was a position open at Kramer’s to which he replied he had most of his staff for over 10 years and had no one quit. I was disappointed but went about my weekend. On Monday, I came home to a message that he had someone quit that day.”
“Patrick my husband, had worked there 4 years before I had, and eventually we became good friends and started dating. Fast forward 23 years, we both have been here for over 20 years and will have owned it for 7 years as of this year!” Patrick and Anitra said, "we feel very blessed to have had this opportunity to work, learn, and help so many people!”
Anitra says that after working for about 5 years at Kramer’s she, “realized that this what what I was born to do and it was more than just a ‘job’! The customers whom I help, the machines and software I get to learn and play with are all beyond anything I could have dreamt. Our store and industry has changed so much since I started here and it is mind blowing too see what creativity comes from our customers!”
Finally Anitra says, “Patrick and I would like you to know that we strive everyday to bring you the best service, machines, and friendship that we can and look forward to another 25 years of fun and creating! We also would like to thank you all for all of your continued support and business as we grow and learn with you! Happy New Year, we look forward to serving you!”
