Emotional regulation is the ability to manage & respond to an emotional experience. Sometimes, children aren’t able to diffuse their negative emotions, which can lead to outbursts or meltdowns.

Here are some ways to help your child self-regulate:
➖animal walks (bear, crab, bunny)
➖ engaging in tactile media (sand, shaving cream, play-doh)
➖listen to calming music
➖take 5 deep breaths
➖blow bubbles
➖count to 10
➖ go for a walk outside
➖draw a picture

✨Quick tips to get your kiddos talking ✨
1️⃣ Give 2 choices • Offering choices encourages your little ones to use their words!
2️⃣ Put things out of reach • By putting motivating food or toys out of reach, your little ones will be more likely to use language to ask for them!
3️⃣ Be forgetful • See your kiddo’s reactions. 😱 Most often, they will use language to remind you of what your forgot.
4️⃣ Follow your child’s lead • Play with the toys they choose! You will get a lot more language out of your child when you tap into their interests.
5️⃣ Turn it into a song • Nothing catches the attention of kids faster then when your start singing! 🎶
6️⃣ Have fun • Kids learn best when they are having fun! 🥳
