Let’s talk tinnitus! 🔔 👂🏼
•
With over 45 million Americans dealing with tinnitus, it’s no surprise that this is one of the most common health conditions we face today and a very popular topic in the Audiology world!
•
Dr. Keener noticed these numbers rapidly increasing and decided to take action. By opening IlluminEar Tinnitus & Audiology she was able to address these patients’ struggles and begin providing relief.

Welcoming the newest member of the IlluminEar Audiology team!
•
Dr. Danielle Jenkins joined us this summer after relocating to Austin, TX in July. She graduated with her doctorate from Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon this year and recently finished her residency year at the UNC Greensboro Speech & Hearing Center.
•
While she may be new to the professional world, Dr. Jenkins brings with her a wealth of personal experience! She is a hard of hearing individual who has worn hearing aids for over 20 years. Her areas of expertise include misophonia, hyperacusis, pediatrics and all things amplification!
•
When she’s not working to improve the quality of life for her patients, you can find her out exploring her new home here in Austin. So send your recommendations her way!
Well hello weekend, we’ve missed you! 🤩
•
Here’s a little sneak peak inside our office! This room is where our audiologists counsel and educate our patients on their hearing health.
•
We are huge advocates of communication and teamwork here. You will often find our audiologists in here together, collaborating to find the best possible communication solutions for our patients! 👂🏼
Introducing the woman who started it all! ✨
•
Dr. Kristen Keener is our fabulous practice owner and audiologist. She opened IlluminEar Tinnitus & Audiology a little over 6 years ago with a mission to help the underserved population of sound sensitivity disorder patients. She has over 24 years of experience in the field of Audiology. Tinnitus is her speciality, but she is certainly not limited in her skills and experience working with a variety of disorders and diagnoses!
•
When she’s not busy helping others with their hearing and communication she likes to spend her time exercising, hanging out with her two children or enjoying a delicious meal at one of Austin’s many local restaurants! What else would you like to know about Dr. Keener? Head on over to our website IlluminEar.com to learn more!
Happy Monday!

Today I wanted to teach y’all a little bit about one of the main audiological disorders we treat here at IlluminEar!
•
Misophonia is a condition that presents itself when an individual is exposed to a trigger sound and has a strong emotional response. These patients often have an aversion to softer, high-frequency sounds and may feel panic, anger, disgust, etc. when hearing them.
•
We work closely with these patients to identify the triggers, reduce awareness and help them to regulate the response of the autonomic nervous system. We’d like to start posting about the treatment methods we use, would y’all be interested in learning more? Message us to let us know what you want to see! 🤓👂🏼
Sending the warmest holiday wishes to all of our patients, friends, family and loved ones this holiday season! May the new year bring health, happiness and prosperity! ✨ Thank you all for being such a bright part of 2020 for us here at IlluminEar! 💛
Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours! We are so thankful for all of our patients who allow us to do what we love every day. Stay safe, healthy and well-fed today friends! 💛✨
Let’s talk about Hyperacusis!
•
Hyperacusis is an extreme intolerance to every day sounds in one’s environment. These individuals deal with strong negative emotional and physical reactions to a wide range of sounds that others might not classify as loud. However, to someone with Hyperacusis the sounds are obtrusive and can cause a strong fight or flight response.

At IlluminEar we work with a wide range of treatment methods, catered to each individuals disturbance levels and medical background. Swipe to learn more! 💥👂🏼
