Meet Preston - Glasses Superstar
People say glasses make you smarter. Preston is on a mission to prove this statement true. Currently, at the age of four, Preston is in Preschool, yet he is studying Second Grade Math and First Grade Reading material. That translates to being three and two years above his grade level. Is it the glasses? Possibly, but it would not have been possible without the help of the Kumon of San Bruno.
Being diagnosed with hyperopia (far-sightedness) at an early age, Preston has needed to wear glasses to help him see clearly. Many think that he hates needing to wear glasses at such a young age, but Preston has taken all of this in stride and actually loves the look of his glasses.
Other than the glasses, Preston is a typical fun-loving four-year-old that loves just about everything.
Preston started Kumon in March of 2020 at the Kumon of San Bruno. Following a structured and balanced daily routine provided by the Kumon of San Bruno, Preston was able to fine-tune his work skills, helping him progress through academic concepts smoothly. Since enrollment, Preston mastered the number sequence by his second month and mastered basic addition and subtraction by his fifth month in the program. After learning complex addition requiring carries, he is currently learning complex subtraction utilizing borrows. At this rate, Preston is on target to reach Calculus before the Sixth Grade.
So, does wearing glasses make you smarter? If you ask Preston, he will smile and emphatically tell you, “Yeah!”
Harveer's positive attitude was recognized by his school district when was given the Integrity Award. He has been a part of the Gifted and Talented Education program since third grade and has been recognized for his talent in other areas, such as martial arts and music. He was recently recognized by the California Bay Area Tri Valley Sikh Association for his renditions of Kirtan music in public performances.
