GO SWIMMING OR CATCH FISH AT THE KOA - HECK, YOU CAN EVEN CAMP OUT IF YOU LIKE.
From the Lafayette Daily Advertiser of June 22nd, 1970:
KOA OFFERS CAMPING FISHING AND SWIMMING
The Lafayette KOA in addition to serving the traveling camper with excellent facilities is fast becoming a popular center for the people of South Louisiana. Fishing has really perked up - some excellent catches with channel catfish with some in the five pound category have been made lately. Fishing and swimming, is, or course, FREE to all registered campers. Should you want to just fish - there is a charge of $1.00 per line (all the fish you catch is yours). Swimming in the concrete bottom beach area is 50 cents per person (fresh, clean, well water running through the area at all times). Tandem bikes can be rented on the lake for the kids cost only 25 cents a ride.
A word for Daddy - bring that boy of yours for an outing - Or better, bring the whole family - they will all enjoy it. To see a boy catch his first fish is really something to behold. A father and son who fish together can't help but be pals. The Lafayette KOA is FIRST a FAMILY CAMPGROUND. No big noise, just a clean, wholesome place for family enjoyment. Tents are available for rent for only $4.50 per night which includes registration. The store is well stocked with groceries, gifts, and souvenirs. A complete laundry with new coin operated washers and commercial dryers is available to campers plus everyone in the general Scott area.
This summer include the KOA Kampground in your plans. You'll be happy you did. Remember the Lafayette KOA is located only five miles west of Lafayette on Intestate 10 at the Scott Exit. For groups, please call first: 235-2739.
