Since July 24th, wildfires have burned 4.6+ million acres across 10 states 🔥 Many animals have been affected by fires and smoke, displaced from their homes, separated from their owners, or injured during this unprecedented crisis. Oregon has been especially hard hit in September with roughly 500,000 people in evacuation warning areas and entire towns and cities destroyed. Our Washington and Oregon veterinary friends and colleagues have been working tirelessly to donate supplies to charities including World Vets, volunteering their time at local triage centers, and opening up their own hospital doors to take in injured pets. 🐶🐱 We are committed to doing the right thing and working together with our veterinary community to help animals in need. To support disaster response efforts, we recommend donating to Greenhill Humane Society. Greenhill is a non-profit animal shelter in Lane County, Oregon currently working with local veterinary hospitals to offer emergency boarding, reuniting lost pets, and providing pet food and supplies. Going Away for a Vacation or Stay-cation? Tips to Get Your Dog Ready for Boarding 🐶 As much as you might like to bring the family dog along, it’s not always practical or safe to get away with your pet. Boarding your dog is a great way to give them their own vacation while you are away. Prepare your dog for their stay with these tips: Schedule a veterinary visit to verify your dog is up to date on all necessary vaccines. Consider a boarding session of just a night or two for your dog to get to know the environment before you leave on an extended vacation. Check your dog’s food supply and stock up before your travel date to maintain their routine diet. Want to learn more about dog boarding services at Lake Olympia Animal Hospital ? How to keep your dog safe in and out of the water this summer Many people have been especially cooped up these past few months. That anxiousness we feel to get outside, stretch our legs, and maybe even cool off a bit in the water, you can bet your dog is feeling it too. For humans and pets alike, swimming is a great physical activity that keeps us happy and healthy, but it’s important to pay close attention to our furry companions’ grooming needs in the process. Whether your pup is diving into the deep end or taking a dip in the river, water can play a big role in their coat and overall health. Here are some tips to keep your companion safe this summer. Always bathe your pet after a swim Protect your pup’s ears Prepare with sunscreen and paw pad protection Your pet is just like family, and you want to make sure they can enjoy their time outdoors just as much as you. If your pet appears to be experiencing any discomfort after some playtime in the sun, or could just use a little extra cleanup from a professional groomer after a great time outside, make sure to call Lake Olympia Animal Hospital at 281-499-7242 today!

Pippi the Papillon owes her old age and physical agility to excellent and consistent veterinary care. As a volunteer at her local humane society, this owner has seen firsthand the detrimental effects on dogs who don’t receive regular veterinary care. Regular wellness exams and dependable diagnostic testing make sure that your pets are around and healthy for many years to come!
This owner sends Skye & Enzo to the vet because they are a part of the family and “if humans require yearly checkups, then so do dogs!” Many pet parents worry about their cat or dog since they can’t communicate with them, which is why regular visits to the veterinarian can give you peace of mind about your pet’s health. Wellness exams help us learn more about your pet to better diagnose and treat conditions early. Enzo was diagnosed with a vision impairment that may not have been caught and treated properly without his regular checkup! 🐕 🐕 👀
Preventative wellness care is extremely important for all pets, but particularly so with rescue pets. For many pet owners, like this one, their pet’s wellness history may be unknown, so preventative health exams and diagnostic testing is crucial for having the best vision of your pet’s health as possible.
Don’t miss the chance to double your giving impact this year! World Vets has helped build local veterinary systems for pets in need in communities around the world for over 15 years. Our hospitals have partnered with World Vets over the years through supply drives, sending team members on international veterinary campaigns, and collecting monetary donations. Help us make a difference by continuing to support World Vets this year. In addition to World Vets own $6,500 end of year match, Lakefield Veterinary Group will be matching donations made to World Vets up to $10,000. That means monetary donations up to $16,500 received before January 31st, 2021 will be matched! DONATE NOW: bit.ly/WVdoubleimpact

Regular exams and diagnostic testing helps us to quickly detect any health issues in our pets early and prolong the life of our furry best friends!
Through 3 dogs and 2 cats, this owner is a true believer in preventative care to keep her fur family healthy. From wellness exams to routine nail trims to diagnostic testing, your vet will help keep your best friend happy and healthy for many more years to come! 🐶 🐱
