The safest way to celebrate winter holidays is at home with those who live with you. If you do decide to gather: ❄️ Limit the number of guests and set expectations with them beforehand. ❄️ Weather permitting, host a small gathering outdoors. ❄️ Have extra unused masks available. Encourage everyone to wear them inside and outside. ❄️ Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and items between uses. ❄️ If celebrating indoors, bring in fresh air by opening windows and doors. ❄️ Have a separate space for guests to wash their hands, or provide hand sanitizer. ❄️ Keep background music volume low so guests don’t need to shout. ❄️ Cancel your gathering if you or someone who lives with you is sick or has been near someone who has COVID-19 or thinks they may have it. ❄️ It’s okay to postpone or cancel your gathering. Do what’s best for you.

This morning a 220-ton cyclotron was lifted and installed in the future Proton Center at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health’s Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute. Medical Director Dr. Randall Oyer spoke with the media about the new Center that will be the second in Pennsylvania to offer innovative proton radiation therapy, and build on Penn Medicine’s groundbreaking proton therapy expertise led by the Roberts Proton Therapy Center in Philadelphia, which opened in 2010. Proton therapy uses a positively charged proton beam that enters the body at a low dose of radiation. When the beam hits the cancer it’s targeting, the dosage increases. The beam stops, preventing radiation from moving through healthy tissue, while maximizing the chances of attacking cancer cells. http://bit.ly/2LGN3wB
