Being up in the burn zone day after day, with the weight of the fire cats lives on our shoulders and the hope of their people at our backs to keep us going, you can get stuck in the direness & gloom of it all . Then there are moments when you come upon scenes like this and your whole soul smiles and tender tears roll down your cheeks ... this is an amazing community of people, love runs deep here - neighbor to neighbor. 🧡
As I stood between two properties .. one completely destroyed, the other, mere feet away, stood perfectly. My eyes scanned and then this caught my eye .. this simple but oh so meaningful gesture, from one neighbor to another .. You matter.
Simple - beautiful - community.

Distracted Driving Awareness week is here. Be alert, distracted driving causes one in every 12 serious injury crashes in Oregon. When you’re a passenger, don’t let your driver drive distracted. Ask for their phone—you can answer, instead. If you don't have a passenger, don't tempt yourself, put your phone in the glove compartment.

More than 38,000 people were killed in motor vehicle fatalities in 2019. Just one second is all it takes to change a life forever. Distracted Driving Awareness week is upon us. Know what is safe, know what is legal. In Oregon, violation of distracted driving laws can range up to a $2,500 fine and could result in 6 months in jail.

Did you know as of January 1st, people riding bikes no longer have to come to a stop at every stop sign in Oregon? As long as the person on the bike has the clear right of way, they can simply slow down, then proceed through the intersection.

The ability to drive is often closely associated with independence, and no one wants that taken away. That’s why it’s important to start the discussions early and have a plan in place. For more information go to https://www.oregon.gov/odot/DMV/50plus/Pages/Index.aspx

🤩Congratulations to 4J nutrition services staff who were honored with the 2020 Special Public Service Award from the Lane Council of Governments for their dedication, leadership and commitment to providing more than 1.2 million nutritious meals to thousands of youth since school buildings closed nearly a year ago due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"It feels amazing to have such hardworking people be recognized," said Holly Langan, director of 4J support services, which includes nutrition services. 4 Ways to Be a Workplace Leader:
- Be an example by role modeling safe behaviors and others will follow suit. Don’t cave to co-worker peer pressure and speak up if you feel like your work conditions are unsafe.
- Stay home if you’re sick and work from home whenever possible. Use technology for meetings and to stay connected.
- Know that the office and workplace scenarios you see on TV are not a true depiction of what’s OK behavior and don’t reflect real life in the midst of a pandemic.
- Follow the Four: Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Stay six feet apart. Avoid large gatherings.
