GRATITUDE PIE: “Thank you” to LaRosa’s Pizza atop Taylor Mill Hill, which showed its appreciation to the Snow and Ice Team at the City of Covington’s Public Works Department today by delivering a rather large stack of pizzas.
Here, Covington’s crews file into a break room at the garage on Boron Drive to grab a few slices.
With the unusually wintry weather recently (yes, we know, winter IS supposed to be cold and snow SHOULDN’T be rare, but it kind of is – that reportedly was the biggest snowfall in 13 years), there have been a lot of late nights and double shifts lately for Public Works crews, and their efforts are appreciated: At City Hall we’ve received numerous emails, phone calls, and social media comments from residents and businesses praising the work of Director Chris Warneford’s team over the last week or so in keeping the streets safe to drive.
And crews are still on the job. In the picture below, driver Alvis Barber drives along 43rd Street late this morning, spreading salt where needed and maneuvering between parked cars to clear snow off the street.
