We can't get too many laughs these days, so I hope this hits you like it did me. My daughter Brittany and hubby Rich live in Brighton, UK, and have a Zoom chat with about 20 friends every Sat. night. Every chat has a theme and they all dress up. Last week the theme was "Tiger King," and to no one's surprise, B&R won the costume contest that night. Both their toddler sons were in bed, and one called out. Brit instinctively went to check on him, forgetting her makeup, and his little face kind of melted into total, lip-quivering bewilderment, like Dad and Mom had somehow MERGED!

It’s been said that comedians have a Third Eye that allows us to see the Funny in things other folks can’t. But if you keep the right attitude—i.e., “how would a comedian look at this,” or “that’s kind of funny, how could I get a laugh with it?”—and keep your antennae up, opportunities will pop up all the time.
We are crazy lucky to be best friends with our wonderful neighbors, and yesterday I heard two of them having a shouted conversation. Kat (appropriately) had climbed to the middle brace of her back fence to see Jeff across the alley, who was on the stairs to his side porch so he could see over his fence, too. They were about 20 yards apart, and I was 30 yards from both of them. I crept up a step ladder near my fence and waited for an opening. When Jeff finished shouting a point, I popped up so both of them could see me and yelled at the top of my lungs, “Do you think this is enough social distance?!” and they both cracked up.
There are laughs everywhere if you’ll pay attention and pounce.

My wife and I have decided that the best way to whip the Pandemic Blues is to laugh often and make others laugh when we can. We arranged a tele-conference this week for our biannual meeting with our financial advisors. Since they were going to have to explain the grim realities of the tanking economy and why they have no control over the insane stock market, we figured we’d start the meeting by making them laugh. Which they did—heartily—as soon as we appeared onscreen, and we had a very amiable, productive meeting.
