About

Founded in 1956, Laughlin Children's Center has a long tradition of offering multi-disciplinary educational support services to children from preschool through high school. Our range of services is unique, and offers families the opportunity to see multiple clinicians all under one roof, from certified teachers to licensed professional counselors, as well as occupational and speech therapists, reading specialists, and more. Because we are a nonprofit, we are able to keep our fees affordable; we accept most major insurances, and we offer a generous financial aid program for those families who qualify.

Learning at home? Try this simple sensory bin to target speech and language, early literacy and fine motor skills! Place letters, beads and rice together in a container. Encourage your child to find letters to identify and copy on a piece of paper; for beginning readers ask them sound out the words and then find the letters in the bin. For a language activity ask your child to use the words in a sentence or tell you a rhyming word. Finally, sort through the bin and lace beads onto a bracelet or necklace. This rewarding activity is full of learning opportunities that your child will find engaging and fun! To learn more about our services at LCC in Speech, Occupational Therapy and in our Academic Department call us today at (412) 741-4087.
