The financial implications of Climate Change... Did you know that in 2019, the US was impacted by 14 separate billion-dollar disasters including 3 major inland floods, 8 severe storms, 2 tropical cyclones (Dorian and Imelda) and in California, 1 wildfire event. This meant $45.0 billion in damages in 2019 alone. The number and cost of disasters are increasing over time. Climate change is playing a role in the increasing frequency of extreme weather that had lead to billion-dollar disasters - notably the rise in vulnerability to drought, lengthening wildfire seasons in the Western states and the potential for extremely heavy rainfall in the Eastern states. Definitely something to consider. To learn more, contact me at laura.russell-jones@morganstanley.com or 415-984-6060.
