I am pleased to announce that yesterday our firm won a significant decision before the Delaware Supreme Court in the case of USAA v. Brown. This case is an important victory for passengers injured in an automobile accidents. It allows the passenger to make a claim both against the liability coverage and underinsured motorist coverage of the driver. Insurance companies have been fighting this issue in the lower courts, and now we have a decisive Supreme Court decision. Many thanks to my law clerk Daulton Gregory and paralegal Karen Decrease for their assistance with the briefing. Many thanks and congratulations also to Gary Junge of Schmittinger and Rodriguez who argued the companion case. I also very much appreciate the advice and assistance of Pete Jones and Wilson Gualpa of Morris James as well as several other members of DTLA. Most of all, this a great victory for innocent victims of auto accidents.

I am pleased to announce the hiring of Ashley Hahn as a legal assistant in my office. Ashley is in her final semester at the University of Delaware as a dual major in psychology and criminal justice. On the Dean’s list every semester at the University of Delaware, she is a member of the National Society for Collegiate Scholars and Phi Chi National Honor Society in psychology. She is a member of the division one University of Delaware women’s rowing team. We look forward to working with Ashley.
