Sometimes in practicing law, a lawyer makes tough decisions in representing his client. Every situation is different. Having spent many years as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney has given me a perspective others do not. Recently, during jury selection, a prosecutor whom I've worked against in the past was on the panel. I left her on the jury......and the case was dismissed after jury selection, opening statements and one witness.
A few years ago, I would have to go to the jail to visit a client in jail, and then go to the courthouse to represent a separate client in a hearing.
As I type this, I'm doing both. At the same time. From my office. In shorts.
Technology is amazing.
As we remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001, also remember the renewed hope and patriotism those events brought. We must never forget the lives lost that day, nor the lives of every soldier who has fought and died for us to enjoy the liberties we do.
If you haven't listened to Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A." recently, I suggest today is a good day to do so. And listen to the words.
If tomorrow all the things were gone
I worked for all my life
And I had to start again
With just my children and my wife
I thank my lucky stars
To be living here today
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can't take that away
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

Even if you can't spend time with friends and family in person, be sure to reach out to them today! As tough as life is some times, and it's been a rough year, we all have a lot to be thankful for. If may be right in front of you, or you may have to look hard to find it, but it's there. Just living in the country we live in with the freedoms we have is something to be very thankful for!
Happy Thanksgiving!

The Storm of the Century just keeps on dealing new blows to our system!!
Bryan Residents,
Due to the increased load of water usage (dripping all faucets and busted pipes) the City of Bryan - Government is having a hard time keeping up with the water consumption, it’s draining the towers, and the pumps cannot keep up demand.
****Please conserve as much water as you possibly can!
**We need to ensure we have adequate water pressure for fire protection.
If you think the toilet paper shortage was bad wait till you don’t have any water to flush at all!!
*Meanwhile if you see a lineman (Our Electric First Responders) Please tell them Thank You!
They have been working nonstop for hours with no sleep in ths horrible weather doing their job with no complaints. So if you really want to help the situation give them a sandwich, hot chocolate, or coffee or just a kind word, they don’t even have time to eat.

In addition to Brazos County being closed, the Law Office of David Hilburn will as well, at least through Wednesday February 17.
In addition, our email and website provider has had his servers taken down due to them being in a high power consumption facility so more power can be used for residential use. I'm glad this is the case. However, it means the office email and website are down temporarily.
If you need help, you may reach me by phone, 979-704-5071, or via FB Messenger.

If in College Station, you still have access to the the police. In an emergency, call 911. Brazos County 911 will dispatch CSPD. Hopefully power will be restored soon and the non-emergency number will be back online.
Obviously, only call 911 if an emergency.
