The Constitution of the United States was written to establish the different branches which would form the Federal government. Each branch has a different purpose and different powers to go with it. These powers are outlined in the article of the Constitution which establishes the three branches. Article 1 establishes the Legislative branch to write the law. Article 2 establishes the Executive branch to enact the law. Article 3 establishes the Supreme Court and whatever lower courts the Legislative branch create.
The Bill of Rights was written to protect individuals from the government by specifying the rights of individuals over the government. Those rights are there to protect unpopular opinions and beliefs. Guarding the rights outlined in the Bill of Rights of every individual in the United States, regardless of if you agree with them, is important and of utmost necessity. Those rights come as a bundle- either everyone gets all of them or no one gets any.
Although the Bill of Rights does not protect you from the social consequences of being a jerk.

The Shawnee County Jury took the time needed to weight the facts then came back with a Not Guilty on all charges!
