As I get older I find there are still new things to try. I went all in on online marketing and got very little return. Sure I moved way up in Google listings but not too many new clients. Finally I subscribed to lawyer.com and started getting referrals. Most of the cases are small but I am getting a fair number of cases and am hopefully building up a referral network. I kick myself for not doing this years ago. Live and learn.

This is thoroughly consistent with what I found when I represented a franchisee who wanted to sell her store. Subway started hyper inspecting her store, coming in 5 minutes before closing and deducting points for being out of a certain type of cookie and deducting points for smudges on the windows. It refused to approve any buyer she found, even telling one prospective purchaser that the purchase price was too high. Subway handpicked its own purchaser who offered considerably less than those found by the franchisee who had been rejected by Subway.
