Why did my grass not grow?
There are many factors that contribute to why grass seed does not grow as expected. It is important to identify why your grass seed did not grow in order to avoid experiencing another frustrating, failed attempt. Do not automatically blame it on the grass seed itself.
All grass seed needs some level of sunlight to grow. If your lawn area is experiencing only 1 to 2 hours of sunlight a day, it may be hard to keep a thick lawn growing in the long run.
Hard clay-packed soil can also make it difficult for grass seed to grow.
If there is not enough moisture in the soil, or if proper watering directions are not followed, grass seed germination will be delayed.
Perhaps you did not keep foot or pet traffic off of the newly seeded areas long enough to establish a good stand of grass? The newly seeded area should be mowed 3-4 times before regular traffic resumes on newly seeded areas.
Also, understand the time frame that it takes for various grass species to germinate. Remember, germinate means, “start to grow” not that you will have complete lawn cover in 10 days!

How much should I water my arborvitae? When arborvitae are planted they should be watered daily and the soil kept moist. Think “low and slow” by turning the garden hose on low and watering the root ball very slowly or using a soaker hose. A few drops per second for 2-4 hours (depending on how quickly the soil drains) per day on the first 10 days will work well.
As the root system draws into the ground (after about 10 days), you will want to back that off to every other day. 3-4 weeks after planting, drop it down to watering every 3-4 days. The top soil should be dry when you return for your next watering. By 6 weeks post-planting, You should be watering your new arborvitae “low and slow” about once a week.
If you have a well established arborvitae, and are wondering how much to water your arborvitae, think of your arborvitae like a camel! A big, low and slow drink once a week will keep it going pretty well.
Watering Guide For Arborvitae:
After Planting 2-4 hours of dripping hose every day for 10 days
2 Weeks After Planting 2 hours of dripping hose every 2 days
3 Weeks After Planting 2 hours of dripping hose every 3-4 days
Once Established (6+ weeks) 2 hours of dripping hose once per week
Watering an arborvitae means using common sense! Water more during times of high heat and drought. Water less during damper, cooler seasons. Moderation is the key as you don’t want soil that is soaked or drying the arborvitae out.

I copied and pasted this story and the photo. I am so sorry I do not know the name of the original poster, But this is GREAT!
So there I was on a trail and noticed I needed to tie up a boot... I sat on this dead log, bent over to lace it up aannddd saw this right underneath me. Pretty sure I let out a fear fart as I screamed and jumped off in 2.5 seconds flat... seriously thought I was now a person who discovered a dead body/ body part... so then my toddler side in me got curious and poked it... then saw that its hooked onto a stem that goes into the ground. So I whipped out my handy dandy Google friend and typed in "foot plant mushroom" and there it was... "dead mans finger/toes fungi". The end.
Edit: those who are asking, yes you can share. Share the awareness. Could possibly save the underwear of a hiker who didn't think to bring a spare pair or toilet paper. Lol
