Did you know there are two basic parts to each tooth? The crown is that portion above the gum line that you brush and floss. The roots extend below the gums and are actually attached to the jawbone. Pulp is soft tissue that keeps your teeth healthy and is located in both the crown and the root.
How will I know if I have a cracked tooth? The symptoms associated with cracked teeth include pain while chewing, though it may not be continuous, and it may be difficult to identify exactly which tooth is producing the pain. A cracked tooth often is sensitive to heat and cold.
How can my tooth become damaged or infected in the first place? If your teeth experience any trauma (cracks, chips, etc.) or are not taken care of properly, decay can form and cause severe damage to your teeth.
