Layal Abdel Rahman, M.D., is Medical Director of kidney transplant program at the Transplant Institute of Florida.
She attended medical school at the Lebanese University, School of Medicine in Lebanon, and finished her internship in internal medicine in the Lebanese University.
She came to Medstar Union Memorial Hospital for residency in internal medicine. She completed her fellowship in Nephrology at Medstar Washington Hospital Center, that also had a Kidney-Pancreas transplant Center.
During her two years of Nephrology fellowship, she had the privilege to take care of transplant patients including challenging immunologic cases.
She has found her true passion for this field which made her pursue a transplant Nephrology Fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University, Hume-Lee Transplant Center.
She received state of the art training in taking care of very high immunologic risk patients, managing a broad spectrum of post-transplant complications, dealing with multi organ transplants as the center performed kidney, pancreas, liver, and heart transplants.
Dr Abdel Rahman is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
She is a member of the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Transplantation.
