This is how we suit up for a day at the office!
The use of personal protective equipment is integral to protecting both our staff and our patients. It helps us to reduce the chances that we will become infected and pass the Coronavirus to other patients and to our families. Put simply, this gear is what allows us to safely see patients in need of urgent dental care.
At the same time, we know this gear is in short supply for doctors fighting the Coronavirus in our hospitals. That's why we pledge to use our gear responsibly:
(1) We never "hoard" gear that we do not need to use, ensuring that we leave as much as possible in the marketplace for hospitals and doctors to purchase.
(2) We wear this gear only when seeing patients, making sure not to waste any gowns, caps, booties, or masks. Gear from our office is never used for personal purposes outside of work.
(3) We absolutely never remove used gear from our office. All protective equipment that has been used and contaminated is safely disposed of, along with other types of medical waste. This ensures that we do not spread viruses and bacteria from our equipment to our community.

Yesterday we had the privilege of treating this young woman for her dental emergency. As you can see, we sent her home feeling great! Patients like these remind us why we come to work during the Covid-19 crisis. We are thrilled to do our part to help those struggling with tooth pain or infection.

We believe it is our duty to keep our doors open as long as we can. Here's why:
According to Governor Andrew Cuomo, New York State currently has 53,000 hospital beds and 3,000 ICU beds (as of March 24th). But to meet the surge of serious Coronavirus cases, we will need 140,000 hospital beds and 40,000 ICU beds.
If we can resolve dental emergencies in our office, we reduce the burden on hospital emergency rooms, thereby freeing up hospital personnel and bed space for those with the Coronavirus and other very serious ailments requiring hospitalization.
Now, more than ever, we must all take action to support our hospital doctors and nurses who are on the front line of fighting this pandemic. At LEOS, we are thrilled to do our part!

Good morning! My staff and I are at LEOS Queens today, continuing to attend to dental emergencies of all types. As you can see, we are taking our safety precautions very seriously! My entire staff has been outfitted with protective masks, gowns, and goggles to keep everyone safe from the Coronavirus.

Our Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic
Dear Leading Edge Community:
We hope that you are staying well during this stressful and unprecedented time. We are writing today to inform you of the measures we are taking to protect our patients and staff from the Coronavirus outbreak.
We believe that the emergency services we provide are essential, and we are committed to keeping our doors open to serve our community in a safe and responsible manner. Accordingly, our offices will remain open for emergency care during limited hours. The LEOS Queens office will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM; and the LEOS NYC office will be open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 3 PM. Should you or your patients need any emergent dental care, please feel free to call our office at (718) 897-6400 (Queens) or (212) 888-7070 (NYC). We will be happy to fit you into our schedule.
We would like to assure you that, as always, our entire office is constantly sanitized with CDC-approved sanitation sprays and wipes. In addition to these cleaning protocols, we have implemented the following operational changes that we would like you to be aware of:
• We are limiting our practice to emergencies only, and have cancelled elective procedures, to minimize the number of patients in the office at any given time. This has eliminated crowding in the waiting room, allowing patients and staff to practice social distancing while visiting the office.
• All staff and patients will have their temperature taken at the door. Anyone with a temperature over 99.8°F will be sent home, unless we feel that their fever is the result of an acute dental infection.
• We have a total of 15 operatories across our two offices. Instead of using all of them, we will be conducting procedures in every other operatory to ensure adequate spacing between patients.
• During procedures, all staff members will be equipped with CDC-approved N95 masks, protective gowns, and safety goggles.
• We have split our team into two groups: a Monday/Wednesday/Friday team and a Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday team. Each team includes no more than 10 staff members to minimize exposure to the virus and maximize social distancing in the office.

• Intensified implementation of strict hygiene protocols
• Constant cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched objects and surfaces
• Any patient who exhibits signs of COVID-19 infection is not treated in our office
We recommend following the steps below to avoid your own personal exposure to the virus:
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a bent elbow or tissue, then dispose of the tissue immediately
• Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
• Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water aren’t available
• Maintain social distancing
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick
• Stay home when you are sick
As the situation evolves, we want you to know that we’re working hard to minimize any disruptions in our practice so that we can continue to operate safely and effectively. At this time, our office is open and will remain so for as long as possible. We will continue to monitor the situation and post updates as needed.
