Many people have used the COVID-19 pandemic to assess their current living situation. Perhaps you finally got to those home improvement projects or planted and tended to your garden. Others felt inspired to make some major renovations to their homes. If you have made some significant updates to your home this year, it’s important to relay this information to your insurance agent. https://ledouxinsurance.com/home-or-lifestyle-changes-during-covid-19-how-it-could-impact-your-insurance-policy/ LEDOUXINSURANCE.COM Home or Lifestyle Changes During COVID-19 & Your Insurance Policy
Here are a few things to remember as our state continues to fight wildfires. Can you run your A/C? Yes. Make sure to set your fan to on so it is constantly filtering the air. If you have a fresh air system, be sure to turn it OFF until air quality improves. If you have a window air conditioner, close the outdoor air damper. If you cannot close the damper, do not use the window air conditioner. If you have a portable A/C with a single hose that is vented out a window, do not use it right now. Keep windows and doors shut. Check your furnace filter. Does it need to be changed? Also, set your furnace fan to on or circulate so it is constantly circulating your air. Continue to check airnow.gov to monitor when it is safe to go outside. Do not add indoor pollution to your home such as burning a candle or incense.
From all of us here at LeDoux Insurance, we cannot express how saddened we are at the state of Oregon due to all the wildfires. We are thinking of everyone who had to abandon their homes to get to safety, or are preparing to abandon their homes. We are currently doing all that we can to assist all of our clients during this time. While call volume may be high for us right now, we will continue to work diligently to make sure EVERYONE gets the help they need. If you need to contact your insurance company and make a claim, please follow this link: https://ledouxinsurance.com/make-payment, to find your company contact information. We encourage everyone to do two simple tasks that will save time, money, and stress, when/if a disaster strikes: • Build a home inventory – Take video or photos of each room in your home, paying close attention to walls, drawers, closets, and storage areas. Write down the purchase date and price of high-value items. Recalling your personal property is a daunting task following a disaster. A home inventory eases the post-disaster stress and enables your insurance company to move forward with processing your claim. • Review your insurance coverage – Take time to discuss your policies with your insurance company or agent. Make sure you have the right coverage and know what to expect when you file a claim for disasters such as fire, earthquake, flood, tornado, theft, and ice storms. Visit dfr.oregon.gov/preparenow for videos and resources to help complete these simple tasks.
