Am I the only one who thinks "escrow" is a unicorn from fantasyland who we will never see or really understand?
Here is a quick explenation as to what escrow is and how it is used in a mortgage: This special holding account is used to pay their annual property tax bill and homeowners’ insurance premiums. However, instead of scheduling payments and paying these bills separately with a checking account (as one typically does with a utility bill), the money is collected by the lender through installments as part of the homeowner’s regular monthly mortgage payment. The lender then uses the money in the escrow amount to pay the tax and homeowner’s insurance bills as they are due.
Why I recommend our clients to have an escrow account with a mortgage lender instead of only paying the principal and interest? because the money is withdraw little by little and not in a significant lump sum that might affect you financially.
