Acceptance is the 🔑 Our happiness, future and sobriety lie hand in hand with how quickly we can see that things are the way they are. We will not find comfort until we CHOOSE it. Decide to let go of expectations and the world will open up 🏔
Thanks for all of your hard work and long hours in the community Leslie!! Maine Behavioral Healthcare September 30 at 9:00 AM · This year's Heroes with Heart celebration wouldn't be complete without honoring our very own Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) Manager, Leslie Skillin (pictured here with Nathan Cermelj of LibertyBay Recovery Center)! Earlier this month, Leslie retired after 15 years of service to Maine Behavioral Healthcare and the Trauma Intervention Program of Portland, ME. From supporting volunteers, to making sure the program ran seamlessly, to raising money for the program, to providing support to so many citizens in the community during their darkest moments - Leslie's dedication to TIP has been unparalleled. The devotion and leadership Leslie exemplified as the TIP Program Manager will be deeply missed and we wish her the best of luck in her next adventures! Please join us in thanking Leslie and all of our volunteers for their years of service to TIP by leaving them a note of appreciation, encouragement or (virtual) pat on the back via the TIP volunteer Kudoboard at www.kudoboard.com/boards/LCP7YHei.
Recovery gives us a chance to correct our wrongs and live with purpose. No matter what age we start the journey we have to remember that we are guaranteed nothing. Enjoy the ride and get busy living🏝🏃🏽‍♀️👨‍👨‍👦‍👦🌏
Recovery: The action or process of regaining possession or control of something lost or stolen. Life has big plans for you so long as you are willing to LET GO.
Recovery teaches us that pain is only temporary so long as we learn the lesson and apply the solution to our reoccurring difficulties. Avoid pain and repeat the struggle. Embrace the pain and find freedom.
"Absolutely fantastic experience at Liberty Bay Recovery. The staff is professional, caring and knowledgeable. My only regret is that I could not stay longer. Shout out to Jess, Lynn, Dax, Jeremy and Madeline great human beings..." says Mark on Google BIRDEYE.COM Liberty Bay Recovery | Portland, ME
Sobriety gives us new beginnings.....especially when we are not recovering from a hangover or waking up in a jail cell. BE GRATEFUL 😇
"The IOP program was awesome. Barbra is A great teacher, learned a lot! Wish I knew about liberty bay before I did residential at another facility. Place is clean and comfortable I recommend to anyone looking for help!" says Josh on Google BIRDEYE.COM Liberty Bay Recovery | Portland, ME
Always remember: "We only truly grow and take action when the pain of staying the same outweighs the fear of change."
Find the goodness in everything today!
If you have done a thorough inventory you will see a list of bad decisions that came from self centered thoughts. In order to change our lives today we need to focus on our thoughts as they lead to the decisions. It's not the caboose that kills us.
Deep😇
2020 has been a year like none other where we have been globally impacted by interconnected events. Addiction and mental health disorders are claiming lives at a record number and if you are on social media/news you can make a case that the world is ending. Fear not. Recovery teaches us that there is a bigger plan, one that can give us opportunities to be of service, gain perspective and build character during these times. IT MAY NOT GO BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS. Use this time to prepare. Tomorrow has the potential to be great!
"Liberty Bay completely changed my life. I have a brand new outlook on life. If you are ready to change your life for the better, this is the place to be " says Ericka on Google BIRDEYE.COM Liberty Bay Recovery | Portland, ME

Halloween is fast approaching and our clients and staff couldn’t be happier! Decorating, carving, finding a costume and the anticipation of another holiday in recovery. For some here at LibertyBay, it’s their first sober holiday in a LONG TIME. Spending money and time on anything but drugs and alcohol was a crime before we got sober. Now, we GET TO connect with others, share a laugh and create some new memories that center around a recovery!
A dream is thinking, a plan is action. Recovery doesn't happen until we start putting one foot in front of the other and trust the process!
"What a wonderful place! Amazing staff, great programs, clean, organized, yummy food! So well run and very accomidating. If felt safe and well taken care of. 5 stars all the way around!!!" says Tracy on Google BIRDEYE.COM Liberty Bay Recovery | Portland, ME
Just like the those who found sobriety before us, we stand of the shoulders of giants. Recovery gives us freedom of choice and Veterans have given us the freedom to live! HAPPY VETERAN’S DAY
Nothing guaranteed in life. Go get it this week!
Be kind....your recovery depends on it!!
Trust the process and find your purpose. Ready for recovery? We are here to help.
If we look hard enough there is always something to be grateful for 🦃😍🙌
Recovery teaches us that our pain, shame and regret will become our greatest strength once we own it and learn from it. Our past can help others see there is a way out and a better way to live!
"Liberty Bay saved my life. I knew that my drinking was way out of control and I knew that I had to do something about it. When I got there, just like a lot of people I immediately wanted to leave. I was depressed and scared as hell. The staff set me down and helped me realize just how much I needed to be there, they were kind caring and understanding and talked me into staying and to at least give it a chance. Please.." says Mark on Google BIRDEYE.COM Liberty Bay Recovery | Portland, ME
People go to meetings and hear things that they can relate to. People keep going to meetings because those little gems we heard are keeping us sane and restoring our lives. Thanks to Tom Rodman and Minda at #bordencottage for giving us this great book. It has come in handy since it has arrived!! Not an alcoholic? Read some of these one liners and see if you can relate.
2020 has changed the way people find help and persue continued care. Our clients have created a new path which is allowing them to create a community of recovery in spite of COVID. Eventually we will get back to some sense of normal but in the meantime we must find ways to use connect on new levels. We are here for you, give us a call 844-894-2673
The mountain top looks like an amazing place but if you think about it, the mountain top is death. Baren, cold, lonely, and hard to breathe, the top of the mountain is not all it's cracked up to be. It's a great place to visit for perspective but it's not a place to live. Find another mountain to climb or be a Sherpa for someone else!
People in recovery have a deadly habit of experiencing a painful event, not processing it correctly and reliving the pain for a long time........ We grow when we shed the shame and move forward. Let Go, the stream of life will take you where you need to go.
"Not my first rodeo, but very different than the others. The theraputic community gets right down too the problem of the problem. I especially enjoyed the hot tub!" says D on Google BIRDEYE.COM Liberty Bay Recovery | Portland, ME
Recovery gives us a better perspective on what life is dealing us. The moment that we change our negative attitude about what life is doing "to us" we begin to see what life is doing "for us". Happy Friday 🥳
Life happens in the here and now. Be "present" and enjoy the "gifts!" 🎁
Change, pivot, new normal, pain, division, 2020 in a nutshell. Hope, new beginnings, resolve, acceptance, recovery, also 2020 in a nutshell. Attitude and perception change everything!
Unprepared, lonely, weak, overconfident and powerless. Whatever our illness or shortcoming we struggle with we will likely encounter these events at one point or another. Experience the pain of being dominated by these realities so you can remember the lesson when it comes again.
Everyday is New Years Day when you are in recovery. No need for resolutions. We don't need to wait for a date on the calendar to come in order for us to take action today!
Recovery gives us the power of choice. Take back your right to build a better tomorrow.......starting with today 🌅
We have one life to live but be careful as we ONLY have one life to live!
At Liberty Bay our patient experience is second to none. Getting sober is one thing but helping others find joy in the process is another!
Recovery gives us the power of choice........choose wisely🦉
A bad attitude is contagious. Choose wisely and celebrate the little victories 🏆🌈
"I truly believe that Liberty Bay saved my life. I have been to many other treatments in the past 8 years, and never experienced the level of care that I received at Liberty Bay. The clinical staff, medical staff and support staff had such an abundance of compassion and knowledge for us clients. I stayed for almost 3 months and would recommend the Therapeutic Community approach to anyone that seeks help for any.." says Kathy on Google BIRDEYE.COM Liberty Bay Recovery | Portland, ME
Somewhere along the way we all lost these basic beliefs. Lets make sure we reconnect with them today!!
Continual commitment to the truth is hard. Cutting a corner here or there feels good because we avoid uncomfortable feelings. When we cut too many corners it seems impossible to make it right. But today we have a solution....... Abandon yourself to God as you understand God, admit your faults and clear away the wreckage of your past and finally get the rest your soul longs for.
Recovery is standing up to our demons and saying I have a power greater than myself on my side. Standing on the shoulders of giants we get the chance to help others and grow as people!
When we clear away the wreckage of the past we are free to become something new. Embrace this chance for a better tomorrow by taking care of TODAY 🌅
When we get sober we hit the brick wall of reality. Emotions, obligations and fear all come flying into our sight again. This time we have a chance to see these things for what they are and put them in their proper place. Only then can we make room for what our HP has in store!!
Right now, someone within a 50 foot radius of you is dealing with some tough stuff. Most of us don't show it but it's there and it interferes with living in the moment. We can be helpful. We can show some love. Kind words and actions have the power to lift people up and change the outcome of what our mental health and substance use issues had in store for us.🙌
We are the sum total of our thoughts and actions. Today we have the chance to be happy regardless of other peoples thoughts and actions. Recovery gives us peace with the present and faith in what is to come!

Socially drinking, heavy drinking or in recovery, we are all granted the same gift......one day at a time. The gift is choice and we have the power to stay stuck in a rut or work towards spiritual change. Either way we are putting energy into our conditioning for better or worse!
Simple but true. Letting go of what is opens us to to what could be! Recovery gives us the chance to experience resurrection on a daily basis.
Life is pain and the moment we accept it it becomes less painful and we have a strong urge to lean into the pain because it makes us sharper and ready for new adventures. Embrace the pain and buckel up!!

Things are only impossible when you are absent faith! If you're struggling with something that seems impossible reach out as there are people who have been where you are and have overcome the "impossible".
How true!! Once we know there is a way out and are given the map we have no more excuses or ignorance to hide behind. The freedom of knowing brings the daily commitment of accepting uncomfortable thoughts and emotions. Today, challenge yourself to lean into the discomfort!

Recovery is the same way too. Until we have all the tools and are willing to put in the work we only see a portion of how good life can become 🌙🌃
That little voice, that hunch, that belief that tells us to try the "impossible" is the place where good things grow. Suit up and show up and let new adventures come to pass.
So what's the argument now? God is either everything or nothing......
Do something for long enough and boom it's a habit. Good habits are easy to break and bad habits can keep us sick for the rest of our life if unchecked. Make a plan, stay accountable to yourself and get those little victories today! Stack up enough of them and we transform our liabilities into assets🏆
Feel the feels and carry on!
