A visit to see Dr. Willett doesn't always result in braces or treatment. Even though she is a dentist, she continued her schooling to specialize in orthodontics, so she doesn't clean your teeth or take x-rays to check for cavities. So what does she do and why does she want to see you for your first visit at 7-years-old? Orthodontists are a big part of your overall oral health care. And, contrary to the ""olden days"", a direct referral to the orthodontist from your family dentist is not necessary. An orthodontist and a dentist are evaluating different things to determine the health of your teeth, mouth, and bite. Dr. Willett thinks of your initial orthodontic exams like a well-child check at the doctor. She wants to see you to make sure everything is going well, create a relationship, and get you on your way to a healthy and beautiful smile. An early appointment with Dr. Willett doesn't mean you will be leaving the office with braces, but it could save you money and time down the road.

Because she is so wonderful, we want to give a shoutout to our Orthodontic Assistant and Lab Tech, Chelsea. Chelsea grew up in North Bend, NE and originally came to Lincoln for nursing school. She loves it here, so she decided to stay. She is happily married to her best friend, Adam. They are proudly raising two cats , Lenny and Thomas, and one dog, Bella, with whom they spend a lot of their time. Chelsea loves to do everything from sitting outside with a good book and tea to playing sports – she is pretty competitive. She also loves being outdoors and going to some sort of body of water, whether it’s a pool, lake, or the ocean. According to Chelsea, the best part of working at Lincoln Orthodontics is being able to spend time with her work family and see patients, who she has really come know and care for. We really like working with Chelsea because she is fun and caring. We are thankful to have you on our team, Chelsea, keep up the great work!

Attention to all of our patients (braces or aligners)! How many times a day do you have to touch your mouth because of your braces, aligners, or elastics? Now is the time to be aware. It is National Handwashing Awareness Week and we've got news for you. Handwashing can prevent illnesses and infections, according to the CDC. We want you to be sure to: 1) Wash your hands often - especially before and after you insert or remove your elastics or aligners 2) Do not cough or sneeze into your hands 3) Avoid touching your face or other surfaces until after you've washed your hands 4) Use alcohol-based sanitizer if you can't use regular soap and water Basic handwashing can keep you healthy, and this year, it's even more important!

Clear Brackets are like traditional braces, using brackets and wires to straighten teeth, with the difference being that the brackets are made with tooth-colored ceramic material, so they are less noticeable like Invisalign. Everyone say hello to Eliza, our new Clinical Assistant‼️ Our sweet new addition is a Lincoln local, and she loves antique collecting and preservation, watching movies🎬, playing board games, and spending time outdoors with her fiancé. Eliza said she has chosen to work with Dr. Willett and the rest of our team at Lincoln Orthodontics because of our positive, fun clinic environment. Aw shucks 🥰 She also feels as though she can grow as an individual and as a professional here. Having experienced several years of going through orthodontic treatment herself, has helped Eliza to better understand what each patient is experiencing. She credits having braces as completely changing how she feels about herself and her smile, and she loves 💕 to see that same excitement in her patients now. We are beyond excited 👏🏻 to have you on our team Eliza, welcome!

We are teaming 🤝up with the JLL as a drop-off site for diapers‼️ We will be accepting diaper donations now through February 15th, 2021. There really is a holiday 🎉 for everything, Happy National Toothache Day⁉️ We know, we know... why 🤔celebrate a toothache? To bring awareness and to celebrate 🥳 the fine people who can treat toothaches and prevent further complications, that's why. A toothache 🦷 left untreated can cause serious infection. We offer Lincoln Orthodontics Jr’s 🤩 – a free, growth observation program for kiddos ages 7 to 11 (or until all permanent teeth are in) – because Jr's teeth 🦷 are important, but may not be ready for full orthodontic treatment. As a part of this program, Dr. Willett monitors Jr's teeth regularly, every 6️⃣-1️⃣2️⃣ months, to: • Determine the proper timing ⏰ and need for future orthodontic treatment • Monitor the eruption patterns of permanent teeth 🦷 • Make sure the roots of baby 👶 teeth are being resorbed • Monitor 🧐 the growth of both jaws • Notify your general or pediatric dentists of any recommendations ✍ made during visits with us This early intervention, can reduce the future treatment time and complexity of needs when full treatment begins later on – saving time and money!
