About

Little Seasons Preschool is nestled in a residential area right in the heart of of Georgetown, DC. Our founders are three mothers that wanted to create a center that they would want for their own children. One of the founders is a Georgetown mom herself! We are happy to serve the Georgetown community and neighboring communities with childcare services for children 3 months to 5 years old. Our classes are divided by age group and our curriculum is built to address all areas of early childhood development: cognitive, emotional, language and social. In our care, the children will receive valuable lessons in life and learning. We believe in children focused and parent centered program. Our development center focuses on the whole child. We offer preschool, childcare, enrichment classes and after school care to meet the needs of our community.

A child is more likely to achieve academic success when parents are involved in their child's education. Little Seasons partners with our families to create emotionally supporting environments in which young children can thrive. Through family engagement, parents learn about their child's development and how to extend classroom lessons into the home. Classroom meetings will be held with your child's teacher twice a year to evaluate your child's developmental progress. If during the course of the year you have a special concern, a conference time can be made available. Parents are always encouraged to become an active participator in their child's Little Seasons experience. Our students day is fun-filled with wonderful learning experiences.

A weekly plan of your child's activities can be found on the board in your child’s classroom. Teachers will list highlights of your child's day. Parents should feel free to express their concerns at all times. Teacher - Parent communication is essential in maintaining an accurate account of your child's daily needs. There is a parent bulletin board in the reception area of Little Seasons displaying important happenings and information on child development issues.

Our Bilingual curriculum introduces children to language, creative art, culture (we learn about different traditions by celebrating their culture and holidays), music, science (observation and discovery), social studies (active in our community), readiness (daily routines such as washing hands, tying our shoes, brushing teeth) and drama (role playing). We understand that children that learn a second language during the early years have much to gain in the areas of development including cognitive, language, social, and emotional skills. Keeping in mind that learning two languages is an extended process for both children and parents, Little Seasons fosters language development in the family as well with special programs to help parents learn along with the children and practice what they learn in school at home.

Parents are assigned a card specific to them to get inside the facility or buzzed in once identified by our Little Seasons staff. Once inside, parents must sign their children in and out of the facility. Another added value is our secure remote Internet access monitoring system, so you are always just a click away from seeing your child's daily activities, no matter where you may be. A secure webcam connection keeps an eye on your child's daily activity allowing you access by simply using the net. Please ask Center administrator for more information on this service.

Our staff is carefully selected not just for their educational credentials, but for their warmth, sensitivity and respect for children. Before they are selected as staff members each teacher is required to present an activity from language development to art, illustrating their abilities. In addition, all staff must participate in a three-month probationary period in order to closely evaluate their interaction with children and parents. Children are exposed to English and Spanish throughout the day through carefully chosen lessons, but our teachers adapt the learning experience to dynamic needs of the children in their classroom.

Small group size and appropriate teacher-child ratios allow for meeting the individual needs of each child. To ensure that excellent care is provided for every child, all staff is trained in First Aid, SIDS and CPR. In addition, all staff members participate in continuous in-service training programs and attend conferences and workshops on child development issues. To support young children's social-emotional development in the classroom and at home our teachers keep logs of assessments, observations and documentation that is shared with the family during parent-teacher conferences throughout the year.
