“Authentic” is one of my favorite words to use when describing my favorite people.
#BreneBrown talks about authenticity in her book ‘The Gifts of Imperfection‘ and defines authenticity as a daily practice of embracing who we are, not who we think we are supposed to be.
Authenticity is what I love about my tribe of closest girlfriends (and my husband!). They are authentic souls. The truest sense of the word ‘individual’. They have their own thoughts, gifts, and personas and are not afraid or ashamed to speak their mind or voice their beliefs. They are not afraid to stand alone, go against the flow, or be the first to speak up... but yet, they are not bullies. They do so in love.
If you have a hard time being yourself, or feel like you need to “pretend” to be someone you’re not, I encourage you to find authentic friends who will love you where you are at and be living examples of authenticity in your life.

All too often we want to focus on the negative - but if we can shift our mindset and focus on the positive, our days and months and years can be better!
I challenge you this month to start a gratitude journal. Keep it by your bed and write in the morning or the evening what you are grateful for. You’ll be surprised at the difference changing your mindset for a month will make!
