About

Are you craving some seafood? How about a pile of sauce-covered shrimp or steamed snow crab? Maybe you’re looking for the satisfying crunch of fried conch or a savory soft-shell crab sandwich. At LoLo’s Seafood Shack, you can enjoy a taste of the coast — or the islands — without ever having to leave New York City!

In the Caribbean islands, a “LoLo” refers to a traditional restaurant where you can taste local dishes, seasonings, and flavors. In 2014, entrepreneur and hospitality guru Leticia Young partnered with executive chef Raymond Mohan to create LoLo’s Seafood Shack. The goal was to introduce New Yorkers to the flavors of the Caribbean and provide a new twist on coastal seafood favorites.

Young has more than a decade of experience in the hospitality industry and trained at the French Culinary Institute. Chef Mohan grew up in the South American country of Guyana and used to visit the local street market every day with his mother. His childhood experiences with local foods and spices sparked a lifelong passion for the culinary arts, and he continues to find that same inspiration on the streets of New York.

The menu is a seafood lover’s delight and expansive enough to include food for both meat-eaters and vegetarians. Popular dishes combine New England favorites like shrimp and snow crab steampots with Caribbean street food, like conch fritters, jerk-seasoned ribs, and smoked achiote wings. You can also dig into vegetarian sides, including street corn, wok-seared cauliflower, and “durty rice.” Sandwiches at LoLo’s Seafood Shack are served on fresh, homemade bread called “Johnny Cakes.” For extra spice, add any one of their signature sauces.

Satisfy your seafood craving with delicious coastal cuisine and Caribbean food from LoLo’s Seafood Shack. This seafood restaurant has something for everyone. Call (646) 649-3356 to make a reservation and visit the website to see the full menu or place an order online.

Love this place. Service and staff are excellent. The food is delicious and I wish they delivered to the Bronx as I would order frequently, lol.

Harlem Eat Up Flashback! Thanks for your support Limerz! Enjoy your day! Harlem EatUp March 13, 2016 at 2:30 PM · I’m a native Harlemite, born and raised on 106th right near Central Park. I grew up going back and forth to Belize, which is where my dad’s from, and I’ve always had a passion for island flavors. I’m a lifelong member of Salem Methodist Church and I remember always going to Copeland’s after services; that was some of my first exposure to the power food has to bring people together. A few years back, while Raymond and I were living in Anguilla in the British West Indies, we’d frequent these seaside shacks called lolos. We were inspired by the feel of these Caribbean gathering places and their amazing fresh, local food. When we saw this place (we fell in love with the backyard), we jumped at the opportunity to create our own lolo. I’m honored to be a part of Harlem’s second renaissance and the culinary explosion happening here. There’s incredible diversity here. It’s a different Harlem now, it’s for everybody. – Leticia Skai, Lolo's Seafood Shack www.lolosseafoodshack.com Get tickets to The Stroll at Harlem EatUp! here: http://bit.ly/HEU16TIX

Black Food Fridays is at Lolo's Seafood Shack. October 6 at 5:28 AM · New York, NY · Did you know that, what we in America call “buffets” used to go by another name? A one point they were called “smorgasbords”, a Swedish word that roughly translates to “buffet with many small dishes”. Which is exactly what we have here, courtesy of @_anna.eats_. She recently visited a couple of restaurants in Harlem, including @lolosshacks where this bounty was procured. It’s only Tuesday but this spread has me anticipating Black Food Fridays in a major way. BTW, if I had to choose some from this picture, I’m taking the Conch fritters and the crab legs. What about you? 🦀🐚
