Forgive me for not responding sooner to your timely response to my roof problem. Pat and myself have been putting in 12 hour days for the past three weeks doing election clerk duty. Pat always gets concerned now when she sees me getting out a ladder, so I paid attention this time. We could not see the work that was done since we left before daylight everyday except sunday. On the first Sunday of our duty tour, we do not have to be there until 11:00 am, so imagine my delight and relief when I first saw your repair. Frankly, I do not expect a professional to do work without compensation, so an invoice would be understood and acceptable. It is comforting to know there are people such as yourself that we can count on.

FREEZING WEATHER WATER TIPS
*Unhook all garden hoses, if you do nothing else do this as these trap water @ the faucet.
* Protect exterior faucets, we all have seen the foam covers @ the big box stores.
-You could also use a bucket filled with some of those plastic grocery bags we all have a pile of.
*Fluff up the bags to create air pockets and loosly fill the bucket.
*Use a prop stick or short shovel to wedge the bucket over the faucet holding it horizontal against the wall.
*There is always the classic "leave the faucet dripping", this usually ends up a mess with ice trail everywhere when the cold snap lasts several days as well as our northern friends having a good laugh at us.
*Have an empty house or cabin?
Turn water supply off (recommend by a plumber or call the city as they are usually responsive) then open up all faucets hot and cold to drain out...Note: you will need to turn off water heater in this measure.
*Pools: most will have a temperature sensor that turns on the pump before freezing temperatures, if not start it up.
Check that your water levels are up.
Clean out skimmer baskets.
The goal is keep free flowing water.
*Do you have any water lines in the garage or attic perhaps from a slab leak repair?
These can be difficult to cover / insulate with pipe insulation. Just be aware and watch these as knowledge is power and you can react quickly if needed.
