A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up'.The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveller asked.
'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..'
'How about my friend here?' the traveller gestured to the dog.
There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveller filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveller asked.
This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveller said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'

Today's Foster Friday spotlight is also a HAPPY Tail ending! Because, let's be real: it's not a foster "fail" when you and your furry realize they're exactly where they are supposed to be.
That's how it turned out for Ashley Benton and her family - a far cry from how her journey with Expo BEGAN. The Bentons were fostering for LCHS when she got a call last year about Expo, a bully mix.
She had never fostered a bully, and was not sure how the aging boy, born in 2012, would adjust to life in her busy household of multiple humans and multiple animals.
"We have kids, dogs, cats, and chickens, and I was just a little unsure about how he would react to all of them," Ashley says. "But Expo fit right in with our crew! As the weeks went by and I met a few potential fosters that didn鈥檛 work out, I began to fall in love with this sweet boy and he became super attached to me. With his age, I could see that he was happy here with us and I couldn鈥檛 imagine letting him go."
Today he's 1000% a mama's boy, and snuggling is his favorite activity - when he's not playing with his furry brother Colt. Congestive heart failure is forcing him to slow down and back off the treats, but what he is missing in snacks he is receiving in love and kisses.
"Expo is the sweetest boy ever. He loves everyone but especially his momma," Ashley says. "He follows me everywhere. If I leave he will wait at the door and whine, even if there are other people home. His favorite thing to do is snuggle on the couch with me and chew on his toys."
This foster "fail" is one of our favorite success stories! Thank you for loving Expo forever, Benton family!

Update: adopted! 馃槂
ADOPTABLE in Tallahassee, FL!
Please feel free to share to find Rudy the best home!
Rudy a 2.5 year old, Olde English Bulldogge. This boy defines couch potato. He lives for belly rubs and treats, which he鈥檚 had to lay off on a bit as we tried to shed some pounds off of him 馃槉
He is crate trained, house trained, leash walks well, and rarely barks. He met some older children on our walk and he LOVED them, but we believe it would be best if he was in a home with kids 10+ as he is a big boy (75 lbs, but should be around 60-65). He gets along with others dogs but occasionally doesn鈥檛 understand why other dogs don鈥檛 want to share (i.e let me take the toy out of your mouth) so he would be best in a home either as an only dog or with a dog that doesn鈥檛 mind him taking the alpha role. He鈥檚 extremely laid back and an easy keeper.
