Lucy Harris Studio is a full-service Manhattan-based interior design studio. We design timeless interiors rooted in modernism and with a vision – for busy professionals and top brands. Lucy is involved from developing a unique conceptual narrative that tells the clients story, through design development and installation. The studio has designed homes and interiors for numerous financial, entertainment and advertising industry clients and for Boqueria, one of the top New York City tapas restaurants.
Lucy’s creative inspiration comes from many different sources. The homes that her family thoughtfully created, like the modernist house where she was raised in Concord, MA, had a profound impact on her decision to become a designer. The origin of her creative family is in her great-great-grandparent’s eclectic art and antiques-filled federal townhouse in Beacon Hill, Boston, now the Nichols House Museum. Their daughter, furniture maker Margaret Homer Shurcliff, with her husband, landscape architect Arthur Shurcliff, built an Arts and Crafts summer house in Ipswich, MA where Lucy spent summers. Some of Lucy’s earliest memories are of exploring the house’s renaissance gardens, windmill and stone tower and carving wood in the shop, with her grandmother, a furniture designer.
Passionate about history, Lucy is influenced by many different movements in art and design, from the Bauhaus to Minimalism. She lived in Rome and regularly travels to Europe for inspiration for her projects. Lucy sources furniture, rugs, lighting and materials from all over the world, and works with craftspeople from Los Angeles to Brooklyn to realize her designs.
Lucy received a Master’s degree in Interior Design from Pratt Institute, with the Outstanding Merit award, where she is now a juror. Lucy worked at Meyer Davis Studio as an Associate for more than five years where she oversaw numerous high-profile projects. In 2012, she left Meyer Davis and founded Lucy Harris Studio to focus full time on designing and executing high-end projects in New York and beyond.
