Do you have a case of the Mondays? Dwight's visit to the office last week wore him out! Generally, we frown upon sleeping on the job. This time we made an exception.
A few of our Missoula Bank employees recently participated in Swing for Downtown, a Top Golf extravaganza to help raise funds for the Missoula Downtown Association. Who can identify these masked bankers who golfed for a good cause?

Wowza! Look at my new house! My friends at ZooMontana, Visit Montana, @montanastrailhead and everyone here at the bank did such a great job, don't you think? I can finally start to meet all of my new friends out there!
I know you've been waiting so patiently, but please be sure to check with my humans at @ZooMontana (http://stockman.info/eUpD50BSjWV) before you visit. I've been told that the Zoo may need to limit how many visitors are here at the same time for health and safety reasons. But don't worry - after all of that effort, I'm not going anywhere!

Affordable housing for birds? Absolutely! These weathered houses were homes to bird families this spring and now sit vacant as fall and winter descend upon Montana. The turning leaves remind us that summer is gone and a new adventures await us! These houses have lived to tell the tail for many years and will continue to provide shelter for bird families for many years to come! #montana406pics #affordablehousing #birdsrule #fallleaves #stockmanbank #montanasbrandofbanking
Today's Tuesday tip is from Simon McCann, commercial/ag loan officer in Missoula.
“An operating line of credit is a short-term, loan where a borrower has up to a pre-set amount in which they can borrow during the loan term. These loans are designed to help businesses bridge their cash flow gap between when accounts payable are settled and accounts receivable are collected. Operating lines allow commercial businesses to purchase inventory and cover monthly expenses until the revenue from their sales is realized. Similarly, Ag businesses can use an operating line to cover production expenses until they market their Ag commodities.”
Simon recently joined our Missoula team, and is pictured at his family's ranch on the Hi-Line. http://stockman.info/ym5H50BUPrj

This frightening fellow was carved by the staff at our Dillon bank. Taking their cue from the popular Food Network show "Nailed It" this is their version of trying to recreate the original carving on the left. What a fun spoof and and even though the two sides are totally different, they get an A+ for knife skills!!
During the month of November we are highlighting small businesses throughout the state. Today we feature Bear Paw Development Corporation, a Small Business Development Center in Havre. The assistance offered helps new business start up as well as help for existing businesses to grow.

Stockman Insurance in Conrad was the place to be recently as Santa made an appearance at the drive-up! Handing out stockings through the drive-up drawer and listening to all the Christmas wishes of the kids who stopped by via speaker, this was truly an innovative, safe and 2020 way to see Santa! As fun as the festivities were, I think we will ALL be ready to get back to a good old-fashioned Christmas next year!
With the holidays upon us our Conrad, Cut Bank, Geraldine, Great Falls, Havre, Lewistown and Stanford banks have been getting into the spirit of giving by donating to local food banks and food pantries. It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas! The holidays are a time when outdoor decorations light the way to fill the long December nights. Many of our employees decorate their homes to welcome neighbors and friends with holiday spirit and beautiful light.
1. Who wouldn’t smile when approaching Toni Walters home in Billings? The Polar Bear greets neighbors along with a whole host of other holiday characters. The one that makes us laugh is Santa with his big catch. Now that’s a fish story anyone can believe!!
2. When you arrive at the bank in Conrad, you’ll be greeted by the Log Snow Family. These darling log snowmen are warming up around the fire pit to stay warm. We hope they don’t get overheated or who knows what could happen!
3. Emma Morrison’s outdoor display in Miles City is a beautiful manger scene. She reminds us of the gentle nature of Christmas with these symbols of the reason for the holidays.
4. Jon Boutilier’s charming yard display helps to lighten the way for all who pass by his home in Great Falls. Lights line his yard as well as his tree along with manger scenes for all to enjoy.
5. Rhonda Marks greets her Missoula neighbors with Merry Christmas wishes from snowmen large and small! A brighter, happier place would be hard to find.
This beautiful and very festive place setting assembled by our Conrad bank "elves" was recently auctioned off at the Conrad Chamber of Commerce's Festival of Trees and Wreaths annual fundraiser. Funds raised from this fun event are used to decorate Main Street. Although not able to hold the auction in person this year, items were sold via an online auction. Clearly the lucky bidder who received this gorgeous arrangement will be serving Christmas dinner in style!
Santa's making a list and checking it twice, but we think these pets are nothing but nice! Stockman Pets Part 2 is coming to town!
1. Megan Zukaitis’s pup, Turbo, is looking very dapper in his Christmas tie. He is on his best behavior to make sure he will definitely make the Nice List this year!
2. Shera Simmerman’s dogs, Sam & Sophie, will be waiting for Santa by the fireplace from now until Christmas. On the top of their list: toys and treats!
3. Brutus, Fergie & Hugo, all belonging to Stephanie Johnson, are testing out their holiday gear to get ready for the big day. We think they totally sleighed their outfits!
4. Niki Munroe’s dogs, Boone and Hattie, are trying their very best to be good for goodness sake! Even if it means enduring some Christmas headbands. 😊
5. Don’t let her smile fool you – Megan Shelhamer’s dog, Macy, is not a fan of her Christmas jammies. The smile is because she knows she gets a treat for this!
This fall, our Sidney bank pledged to match donations to the Boys & Girls Club of Richland County up to $25,000, and the community delivered! Thanks to the generosity and support of our neighbors, the full amount was reached, making the total donation $50,000. The donation will go toward funding their wonderful, new building in Sidney. We are pleased to be part of the beautiful new facility that will be home to such an important organization!

1. The Christmas tree at our Stanford bank is beautifully decorated, lit with gorgeous holiday lights, and the wrapped gifts are ready for the big day!

9. The Havre lobby snowmen are masked up for a great holiday party. Stay safe and six feet apart. We hope for good things to come in 2021!

We salute the folks at YRC and the very important work they do!

Today we feature another financial tip to help start your year off right, this time from Amy Rolandson, VP, Commercial and Consumer Loan Manager, Miles City.
Identify Financial Goals.
Are you hoping to earn a degree? Buy a home? Repay your auto loan? Finally contribute to your employer 401(k)? To increase your chances of success, it is important to be specific. A broad-based promise to "improve your finances" or "save more" may not provide the necessary planning to be successful. Take some time to compile and assess what financial aspects you can improve this year.

We often hear about ice dams in our rivers this time of year, but did you know that an ice dam can also occur on the roof of your home? Ryan Rothing, Stockman Insurance Agent in Belgrade and Big Sky shares a tip about home owners insurance:
"Not all water seepage into your home may be covered. To prevent ice dams you want to make sure your home is properly insulated, seal any gaps that let warm air leak from the house, and make sure your attic is properly ventilated so that cold air can enter that space. If it is too warm in your attic this may cause the snow to melt, and then when it refreezes, the ice dams form."

Today's Tuesday Tip regarding IRA's comes from Michelle Juntunen, Junior Portfolio Analyst for Stockman Wealth Management in Helena.
With the extended May 17th tax deadline fast approaching, it may be time to think about your IRA contribution. IRAs are a great tax-advantaged way to save for your retirement. You can still make 2020 contributions up until the filing deadline. For 2020, annual contribution limits are $6,000 with a $1,000 catch up ($7,000) if you are age 50 or older. These contributions can be made to your Traditional IRA (pre-tax) or Roth IRA (after-tax). Remember that participation in employer sponsored retirement plans and/or income phase-outs may limit deductibility and the ability to contribute to these retirement accounts. As deadlines and contributions do change over time, make sure to contact your tax advisor regarding eligibility.
