Answer: For a knocked-out permanent or adult tooth, keep it moist at all times. If you can, try placing the tooth back in the socket without touching the root. First, stay calm and contact us as soon as possible. Next, hold your tooth just by the crown (which is the part that is used to chew food) and gently rinse with water. Be sure not to agitate the tooth or tissue that surrounds the tooth, and do not use any other substance to rinse aside from water.
If your tooth fell out, the best way to preserve it is to hold it in the socket that it came from. If this is not viable, then place the tooth in a container of milk and rinse your mouth gently with warm water.
