Tonights special: Beef Bourguignon with a rich red wine gravy, mash and seasoned grilled carrot planks. Enjoy it with a starter of grouper bites and our house remoulade!

God save the Queen

Tonight's special; Scallops seared in a bacon chipotle infused oil with a roasted poblano red quinoa bed and Mexican street corn off the cob. Get them while they're still here!
Close your eyes and imagine you are in an English country village in the summertime. Now open them....NO! But you are on the deck of Maddogs having brunch, and by next summer you could be in the Cotswolds or Devon perhaps. Grab a small piece of England in the meantime. Mad Dogs & Englishmen. Not so much a pub...more a way of life. Brunch sat and Sun from 10am.
Tomorrow night's special; Scallops seared in a bacon chipotle infused oil with a roasted poblano red quinoa bed and Mexican street corn off the cob. As always we'll have grouper bites with our delicious house remoulade and our award-winning "Best in the Bay" fish and chips.
On this day, 250 odd years ago, James Cook discovered New Zealand, which he reported was closed at the time. It's still closed and with good reason. James Cook kept scurvy at bay by loading his ship with vegetables. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern kept coronavirus at bay by not allowing ships or planes in. When it opens back up, there's no better place to count sheep and relax. Two beautiful islands that feature prominently in Mad Dogs co-owner Witon Morley's forthcoming novel Kerosene out in November.
Come on down to Mad Dogs for you sunday night football needs. Grab some of our brined crispy fried miso glazed or buffalo wings for here or take some to go for your at home watch party!
Tonight's Special; Chicken parmigiana with house-made slow simmered marinara over spaghetti

Samuel Taylor Coleridge. English poet. Happy 248th birthday Sam. Go easy on the opium.
In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to Mad Dogs for lunch why not?
Yes, we reopened Mon to Fri from 11.30 am.
LUNCH STARTS TODAY!!!! FROM 11.30am. MENU CHANGES DAILY. NOT SO MUCH A PUB, MORE A WAY OF LIFE. SOCIAL DISTANCING OBSERVED>
Happy Birthday to two great British Isles poets, Dylan Thomas ( Do not go gentle into that good night) and Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran ( Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand.) Hard to know who was the better bard, really. Have a pint on us today, lads.
Pan-seared salmon finished with a maple miso glaze served over a bed of jasmine rice and a sesame oil sauteed brussel sprout and carrot blend
Happy 170th Birthday to Robert Louis Stephenson, who said " Politics is perhaps the only profession for which no preparation is thought necessary." Join us this weekend for Brunch for which much preparation is necessary (on Chef's part, anyway.)
46 years ago today, Lord Lucan murdered the family nanny mistaking her for his wife and disappeared without a trace. There have been sightings of the Earl, who would now be 86 years old, in various far-flung corners of the world ever since. As a member of the Coldstream Guards, might he make an appearance today to celebrate British Remembrance Sunday? Might he be having brunch on the deck of Mad Dogs later this morning? He is thought to be relatively harmless nowadays.
On this day in 1999, Australians voted to keep Her Majesty The Queen as their monarch and Head Of State. No irony intended. On Sunday some of our Falkland War Veterans will be downing a few pints at Mad Dogs in commemoration of fallen comrades. They will be assisted by a piper. Next best thing to the Changing of The Guard. Don't miss it at around 10.30am.
"This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but a whimper." So said T.S.Eliot, he of The Wasteland fame. He won the noble prize on this day in 1948. What a coincidence that we should also win it for best fish and chips. This is the way the day starts, not with despair, but with fish and chips at lunch on our patio.
3 Benefits of Eating Outdoors at a Restaurant http://vlnkx.com/U1VA15Y
On this day in British history, Queen Elizabeth the First ascended the throne without too much fuss, things being simpler in those days; Livingstone sighted Victoria Falls...."scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight" and Sir Walter Raleigh had his head chopped off by the opposition once Elizabeth's reign had ended. So mostly a good day. I wonder what the Chef is doing as a special tonight which will make it an even better day.
Happy birthday Henri!
Happy 156th birthday to French painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, who might be interested to learn he shares his birthday with two prolific serial killers: American Ted Bundy ( Born this day 1946) with 36 victims and British Dennis Nilsen ( Born 1945) trailing with a mere 15.. Catch the excellent BBC series about the latter 'Des' starring David Tennant on Sundance if you have nothing better to do on Thanksgiving and need cheering up. Unfortunately Mad Dogs closes that day otherwise you could come home.
Happy Thanksgiving Week, America. You can always come home to Mad Dogs this weekend if you're having withdrawal symptoms.
Tonight's special; Grilled pork chop rubbed with a fall-flavored coffee rub, grilled to perfection and served with a Strongbow cider cream sauce, truffle pecorino couscous, and sautéed spinach
"“Lovers and madmen have such seething brains,
Such shaping fantasies, that apprehend
More than cool reason ever comprehends." William Shakespeare.
Congratulations to Mad Dogs co-owner Colonel Rick Craig for finding exactly the right sort of heaters to keep you warm whilst you enjoy our outdoor dinning.

Happy 18th Birthday Bella Morley.
Happy Birthday Stephen Hawking and David Bowie. Come to Mad Dogs this weekend and raise a beer to them and Elvis P.
A busy weekend for birthdays. Martin Luther King, of course. Plus Joan of Arc and the British serial killer Dr Shipman, who killed old ladies by the dozen. Queen Elizabeth the First was crowned Queen this day in 1559 and Princess Di called for landmines to be extinguished this day in 1997. Speaking of which, don't miss out on buying a copy of Wilton Morley's new novel Kerosene available exclusively behind the bar.
Birthday greetings go out today to both Grigori Rasputin and Emma Bunton of The Spice Girls. If either of you is around the Macdill Triangle today, we would love to buy you a pint.
Boris wants to know why he wasn't invited as he loves the odd glass of champagne, speaking of which come in and help us celebrate this our 30th year of Mad Dogs. The weather will be superb for outdoor dining.
On this day in 1595, a group of shivering actors gathered to perform Romeo and Juliet for the first time ever. England in January can be brutally cold unlike tomorrow in Tampa where the temperature will reach 75%. Come and enjoy brunch on the deck all you lovers.
Superbowl Sunday we will be offering brunch as usual and then our pub menu from 3 to 6.
We are also offering boxes of succulent chicken wings to go. We will close at 6pm to allow our staff to enjoy the great game. Go Bucks!
We make the best lunch sandwiches.

Happy Birthday Michelangelo. As Orson says in The Third Man: "In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." Mad Dogs has had thirty years of loyal customers and eccentricity. And what has that produced? A bloody good pub.

Yesterday I forgot to mention was the day in history that Andy Gibb died, Osama Bin Laden was born, Simon and Garfunkel recorded The Sounds Of Silence and Prince Charles was nearly killed in an avalanche at Klosters. Oh Yes.... and Prince Charles was nearly killed in an avalanche. Mad Dogs, on the other hand, a neutral country in all things Royal, had a very good day. Customers swilled wine and feasted on the new Shepherd's Pie listening for The Sounds Of Silence.

In news from England, a couple having sex in a car on Dartmoor on the coldest recorded night in twenty six years were apprehended by a concerned policeman. He reported being unimpressed after close inspection. In Florida, warm weather on the way will hopefully add to your enjoyment of a cold pint.
