Madhumati R. Kalavar, MD, is a hematologist and oncologist and serves as the director of the hematology and oncology fellowship program in the department of medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Dr. Kalavar is board certified in hematology, oncology and internal medicine and treats patients for conditions such as anemia, breast cancer, colon and rectal cancer, head and neck cancer, lung disease, and thrombosis. Dr. Kalavar has presented her research in hematology and oncology at national annual meetings and conferences and has been published in medical journals and textbooks. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and the American Medical Association. She is fluent in English, Hindi, and Kannada. Dr. Kalavar earned her medical degree from Government Medical College Vijayanagar in Bellary, India, and remained there for a rotating internship. She served her internship in internal medicine at Syossett Community Hospital in New York, and her residency at North Shore University Hospital. Dr. Kalavar completed her hematology and oncology fellowship at Nassau University Medical Center.
