Marilena Rizzo, M.S., LAc is a licensed acupuncturist who serves the Manhattan, New York area at Manhattan Acupuncture Services. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) from The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City.
She has been in practice for several years and is dedicated to helping patients achieve balance and restore their health through the use of acupuncture, Chinese herbal formulas, and Tui Na massage. She focuses on creating treatment plans that suit each patient’s individual needs and that puts them on the path to optimal wellness. She favors a collaborative approach to healing in which the patient is empowered with the knowledge necessary to better understand their condition from a Chinese Medicine perspective.
Marilena has observed acupuncturists at various integrative medicine hospitals in Beijing, China as well as attended lectures given by some of the leaders in the field on Chinese Medicine. She is trained in the area of Neurofunctional Acupuncture, a highly effective technique used for pain management. Through the use of acupuncture and herbal formulas, she also treats psycho-emotional conditions such as depression and anxiety very effectively. She also practices Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, a technique that offers a more holistic approach to natural beauty.
Marilena also cultivates a strong interest in the use of essential oils to treat a wide range of conditions (i.e. stress, depression & anxiety) and will frequently incorporate their use into her acupuncture treatments. She believes that the use of essential oils within the framework of Chinese medicine has a strong potential to influence the energetic body and, therefore, is key to achieving balance.
