Dr. Mantu Gupta is Professor of Urology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Chair of Urology at Mount Sinai Roosevelt and Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospitals, and Director of Endourology and Stone Disease for the Mount Sinai Health System.

The Kidney Stone Center at Mount Sinai offers a multidisciplinary approach to manage and treat kidney stones of all sizes. Our integrated team of urologists, nephrologists, and other specialists have specialized expertise and experience with a wide range of noninvasive and minimally invasive procedures to remove small and large stones. Led by Mantu Gupta, MD, who has pioneered many of the methods and strategies currently used to manage and treat kidney stones, our Kidney Stone Center uses the latest technological advances for the treatment of kidney stones, including state-of-the-art lasers.

Each week, 220 patients visit the Mount Sinai Kidney Center in East Harlem for maintenance hemodialysis therapy—a challenging regimen to maintain under optimal conditions, but even more so during the #COVID19 pandemic. Each visit increases the patients’ risk of infection, and comorbidity increases their risk of mortality. “Although there are patients who contracted COVID-19 and subsequently developed #kidney failure requiring dialysis or additional care, our patients are people whose kidneys failed prior to COVID-19 and who require dialysis three times a week,” says Dr. Vijay Lapsia.
