The Pegasus statue in front of the AOG's Doolittle Hall at USAFA received a much-needed cleaning this week. Marble Tech Systems was on hand to do the work. The statue is a marble replica of an original at the Italian War College. It was presented as a gift of the Italian government on May 15, 1959. The statue stood outside Arnold Hall until 1994, when it was moved to Doolittle Hall.

Hosted By: River Deep Foundation and SCI HOP

In last Monday's art class, we used a variety of materials to create abstract self portraits. You can tell
in the pictures how creative everyone is. At the end of the class, everyone left with their own masterpiece.
A big thanks to the staff at the Art Students League of Denver and all the volunteers who made this class possible.

The group we had last Saturday are ready to become Swashbucklers. We started with the fundamentals and then we began with some fencing drills.
Our instructors helped us get suited up, including a foil. We paired up and began fencing, with some participants keeping score and others keeping it casual.
Either way, everyone had a fun time learning a new sport. It was a wonderful day and a big thanks to our instructors and the Denver Fencing Center.

Archery at Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear
December 8, 2019
Location: Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear Wheat Ridge, CO.
Hosted By: River Deep Foundation and SCI HOP
Participants: Craig Hospital, Operation TBI Freedom and Ft Carson Warrior Transition Bn
We had a large group of kids and adults all excited to learn archery from the expert staff at RMS Gear. We used recurve, crossbows and compound bows. Our lesson began with the range rules and safety instruction. Next, we were up to the shooting line and given bows. The arrows flew and the fun began.
After a few hours of range time, we took a break and had some lunch. It's been a great day and a big thanks to all staff at Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear, and the volunteers for making this outing possible.

Collin and Sean Mulligan Duck Hunt
December 1, 2019
Location: Kersey, CO
Hosted By: River Deep Foundation and SCI HOP
Participants: Operation TBI Freedom
Over the first weekend in December, River Deep Foundation and SCI HOP hosted an outstanding waterfowl hunt over decoys in Kersey, Colorado, for three Veteran’s and one care giver. After a windy night at the Cobblestone Inn, we were met by our guide/host Collin Mulligan at 5:15AM, for the trip to the river.
We all assisted in placing the decoys and getting set up. The temperature was about 0, but the birds were coming in. All the hunters got there limit of ducks, with a bonus of three Canadian Geese harvested, as well.
All the hunters and guides had an amazing experience.

About 20 years ago Bob Adwar contacted Craig Hospital about taking patients on outdoor adventures as a way to help with the healing process through the Denver SCI Chapter. This effort has since expanded to help veterans and has grown into its own foundation that partners with an alliance of 8 amazing non-profits. One of these is Operation TBI Freedom (OTF) a program of Craig Hospital.
At our alliance committee meeting this week Bob was thanked for all of his hard work and value to the veteran clients of OTF who are able to participate and benefit from River Deep outings. This beautiful plaque was presented by Jesus Garcia, Alfredo Garcia, Steve Smith with much gratitude!
It reads:
Bob Adwar
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our program, clients, family members and staff. We appreciate everything you do for our military program. From your brothers and sisters at OTF and Craig Hospital.
