The 19th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and former Commandant of the Marine Corps, General Joseph Dunford, USMC (Ret), spent the past five decades developing his leadership skills from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan to the Pentagon and White House as the country's senior military leader. In this Leading from the Front, learn how General Dunford navigated different leadership styles (two Presidents and six Secretaries of Defense) and warring factions all under the media spotlight. Our host for this digital extension of our lectures is once again Mike Cerre, PBS NewsHour Special Correspondent and Marines Memorial Association Board Member.

Leading from the Front: Gen Joseph Dunford- USMC (Ret)
As baseball season heats up, we thought we’d share our “Leading from the Front” interview with Sandy Alderson, Lieutenant Colonel, USMC (Ret), former NY Mets General Manager and current Special Advisor to the Oakland Athletics. In the interview, Sandy talks about his careers in the Corps and in baseball, and gives his frank thoughts on the leadership issues facing Major League Baseball’s decision on when and how to play ball again. Join us "virtually" this coming Tuesday, 10 November at 5pm Pacific to celebrate the Marine Corps' 245th Birthday!🎉
The Club is known for our festive Birthday Ball that normally gathers more than 500 attendees to eat, drink, dance, and celebrate the USMC together. This year, we have had to think beyond our normal traditions to pay proper tribute to the Corps. Combining new messages from our President & CEO, Chairman, and Guest of Honor General Peter Pace, USMC (Ret), plus archival footage from past Birthday Balls at the Club, we will have a virtual celebration that honors the Birthday and helps us come together, even if we are not in the same room.
On 10 November at 5pm Pacific, we hope you have some wine (or a martini) and a slice of cake ready to celebrate with Marines' Memorial and our incredible members!
(The video will be available on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/MarinesMemorialClub any time after 5pm as well!)
Our Development team was busy putting together the 2020 Marines’ Memorial Birthday Ball Gift Box for those who placed an order earlier in October. 🎁 They shipped out the first box of goodies containing sweet treats and party favors and the second box, with 2 bottles of our Private Label MMAF Wine, will follow.🍷 We hope everyone enjoys these gift boxes and celebrating Marines’ 245th birthday on November 10th! 🇺🇸

Thank you and welcome!

A bit from our trip: Marine’s Memorial is one of my fav hotels now—best breakfast ever, best beds, best staff, best view, great location, In-house theatre, lots of antiques and beautiful ceilings, and so many unique features, including this library of military-related books you can read by the fire. #digitalnomad

We are approaching the Diamond Anniversary of the Marines' Memorial this November! To begin the celebration, please enjoy this first installment of our retrospective of the past 75 years. We want to take you back to before World War II and the need for a Living Memorial in San Francisco arose. This building we know and love was something VERY different before our founding in 1946…

As we approach the Diamond Anniversary of the Marines’ Memorial this November, we’re taking the time to reflect on the past 75 years. Through wars, recessions, civil unrest and, most recently, a worldwide pandemic, the Marines’ Memorial has stood resolute and unwavering in honor of all who have served.
The history of our nation and our Armed Forces are the lifeblood of this Living Memorial. Around every corner, in every hall, on every floor, our mission to Commemorate, Educate and Serve shines brightly.
To celebrate, we invite you to join us on this historical commemoration of your Club – “Marines’ Memorial: 75 Years in the Making.” From now until November, you will receive monthly emails giving insight into a special part of the history of your Club. The stories told and the memories made under the roof at 609 Sutter are priceless. Thank you for an incredible 75 years!
For the first installment, we wanted to take you back (WAY BACK!) to before World War II and the need for a Living Memorial in San Francisco arose. This building we know and love was something VERY different before our founding in 1946…
