A federal judge dealt a severe blow to the U.S. women’s soccer team’s high-profile pay discrimination case against its employer, ruling that the players provided insufficient evidence to support their claim that the U.S. Soccer Federation illegally paid them less than members of the U.S. men’s soccer team. Judge R. Gary Klausner rejected the female players’ claim that U.S. Soccer violated the Equal Pay Act, and chipped away at their contention that the federation violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, as they had alleged in their suit filed March 8, 2019.
