Spring time means it’s almost concrete season!
With it being prime construction season, there are as many bad contractors out there as there are good. Here are some red flags to watch for as you receive bids on your home improvement projects this year. Hope that it saves you money and headaches in the future as you look for good quality help on your projects. These are general guidelines and as always use your own judgement and discretion when choosing a contractor. Contractor red flags: They require a cash only payment or require full payment before the job is done. They insist on working after hours or weekends only. They fit you in the schedule immediately- if they aren’t booked out for at least a few weeks or months then they aren’t busy for a reason. Buyer be ware. Asking a home owner to pull the permits - if they are a licensed contractor they should be able to pull the permits themselves. They should be able to give you a written estimate and provide proof of insurance if requested. Ask for references or to see previous work done. They should be able to show you this or provide references for you.
