NEIGHBORHOOD MOBILE COVID TESTING UNITS IN AURORA
In an effort to continue to fight Covid-19 in the state’s second-largest city, mobile testing units will be dispatched to neighborhoods that have been most heavily impacted by COVID-19.
“As we wait for the continued rollout of vaccines, we must continue to stay focused on mitigation efforts,” said Aurora Mayor Richard C. Irvin. “Getting a Covid-19 test, while following strict health safety guidelines, is a key way to help to protect our city.”
The Illinois Department of Public Health, with support from the City of Aurora, is setting up a series of convenient mobile testing units - beginning in the 60505 zip code, which accounts for 42% of all of the City’s Covid cases across five zip codes.
The free and convenient testing sites are available for drive-thru and walk-up clients from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on:
• Monday, January 25 - East Aurora Flea Market, 175 N. State Street, 60505
• Tuesday, January 26 - Supermercado La Chiquita, 651 Ashland Avenue, 60505
• Thursday, January 28 - Aldi | Fox Valley Flea Market, 1410-1500 E. New York Street, 60505
• Monday, February 1 - East Aurora Flea Market, 175 N. State Street, 60505
• Tuesday, February 2 - Supermercado La Chiquita, 651 Ashland Avenue, 60505
Testing is available at no cost to everyone. Participants don’t have to have symptoms. A simple nasal swab test will be used, and results will be available in 4 to 7 days.
Based on the need and demand, neighborhood mobile testing units can expand into other high-impact areas of Aurora.
The neighborhood mobile testing units will operate in addition to the State’s COVID-19 Community Based Testing Site in Aurora, located at 2450 N. Farnsworth Avenue, across from the Chicago Premium Outlet Mall. The Community-Based Testing Site is open seven days per week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
To date, Aurora has had 17,719 positive Covid-19 cases and 222 deaths.
